🇬🇧 The EU plans for messaging and #chat control violate our fundamental rights. The EP Research Service @EP_ThinkTank@twitter.com also confirms this. I spoke on this in the LIBE Committee last week - dialled in on the way to the European Court of Justice.

If your login form is handled by javscript, add a method="post" to the form anyway because your JS will fail and make it fall back to dumping my login info in the URL

Just a reminder that Google still hasn't unbanned Andrew Spinks[1]
We all knew famous people throwing a fit on twitter would stop working eventually. Now Google products really have no support.
Back up your photos and email *today.* I seriously regret not doing it.

It really might all be coming apart.

I used to love the caffeine buzz from coffee but now I can't stand it. I'm not sure if it's part of aging or if it's because my life is a lot less of a mess now.
Either way, I didn't realize how strong the coffee I made on Monday was until I had a few cups (I'm used to drinking it all the time and having a much higher tolerance.) I finally feel better today.

i can't really blame them, i wouldn't like to get doxxed either. it's a hack 💁

if your activism depends on big tech you can't be taken seriously anyway.

The rant about bugzilla crumbling and moving to is pretty sad to read. It's probably a good move for them though.

Oh holy crap I found the culprit!

#Firefox came with this Widevine DRM extension by #Google. That was overriding uBlock Origin. As soon as I disabled the YT ads were gone. TIL.

random nerd tip of the day. The broadway backend (broadwayd in the libgtk-3-bin package) allows you to ran a GTK app in a (remote) browser:

broadwayd&
GDK_BACKEND=broadway gedit

and admire gedit with http://PINEPHONE:8080

Hey fediverse folk! Is there somewhere a map of federation/defederation of fediverse? I mean which instances see/listen to which other instances (since the relationship is asymmetrical). Does not have to be graphical, but ideally searchable (text files?).

Point is, I suspect my home instance might be blocked by some other instances I am interested in and I have no way to know whether people out there will even see my toots if I speak to them first.

Any explanations and pointers appreciated. Thanks.

It's only censorship when information is controlled for political purposes in a specific region of France.

When Silicon Valley or anyone else does it, it's sparkling fortification.

#2421 Tower of Babel

Soon, linguists will be wandering around everywhere, saying things like "colorless green ideas sleep furiously" and "more people have been to Russia than I have," and speech will become unintelligible.

# Thought on why there's such a lack of empathy on social media

> Der Charakter eines Menschen zeigt sich im Handeln.
> -- Common quote taken from [blog](kattascha.de/das-daten-imperiu) of @kattascha

Right. Indeed. There are two levels to the world: qoto.org/@FailForward/10565279

And the problem with interactions in the digital sphere is exactly the lack of physical reality, body language clues, etc. _If I cannot sense what your acts are, the only heuristic to guess your character are (my interpretations of) your words._ But since words are a one dimensional linear serialisation of the rich and colourful universe in your head, by necessity the character estimate I construct will be largely wrong (as would be any 1D projection of an xD object).

Perhaps the robustness principle would be a good guidance here:

> Be conservative in what you do, be liberal in what you accept from others
> -- Robustness Principle/Wikipedia/en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robust

It's not exactly tolerance. Benevolence? What's the right human word for this?
