The way back wasn't so fine. Picture taken in approximately the same place as the one at the beginning of this thread.

The installation went fine. We went very high and have very decent parameters – RSRP -93/-90 dBm, SINR 28.8/30 dB at 5.5 km from the BTS. Our client could have a really fast connection, but decided on 15 Mbps, which will cost them about $ 12 per month.

Have to slow down a bit – I don't feed our neighbour's dogs only to run them over now. Slowing down is tricky – I might get stuck in the snow.

This is how today started – on me way to another installation, still a few hundred metres from home.

Anyone who lives with a border collie will know that this is not a docile expression. This is her polite “you must go the way I want” face. #BorderCollie #ILoveMyDog

Beautiful excerpt from Bertrand Russell's essay 'How to Grow Old'

"An individual human existence should be like a river: small at first, narrowly contained within its banks, and rushing passionately past rocks and over waterfalls. Gradually the river grows wider, the banks recede, the waters flow more quietly, and in the end, without any visible break, they become merged in the sea, and painlessly lose their individual being."

CERN's motto is "accelerating science" but sometimes they have to slow down to debunk Hollywood's pseudoscience bullshit. angelsanddemons.web.cern.ch/

Today I got a scam text message from an area code in Texas. It purported to be about a charge to my credit card, and provided a number to call if the charge was incorrect.

I called the number, and the young woman identified herself as Jessica with Amazon. I put on my best feeble elderly man voice and led her on for about twenty minutes.

Then I told her to suck my dick. She hung up on me. I called her back to ask why she wasn't doing as I asked, and she hung up again. Now when I call I just get a recorded message saying the person isn't available.

Call +1-833-373-3309 and tell "Jessica" I said hello. 🤣🤪🤣🤪😂🤪😘

Red Squirrel.

I haven't failed to notice the popularity of red squirrel images, so here's one, jumping through a blizzard, in the Scottish Highlands.

Thanks for all the kind words, comments, boosts and likes, on my images. And I appreciate all my followers, new and existing. ☺️

I'll try to keep sharing images over the festive period, both from my archives and from days out.

This image of a delicate seahorse dragging a mask in the waters off northern Greece, has been nominated for the Ocean Photography Award 2021.

Just a sign of the times I guess. I have seen masks discarded even in the wilds of alaska. Find it sorta sad on many levels. But cool photo.

I’ve finished adding links for the the #NativePlants in my #WildFlowers spreadsheet to the *insects that eat them* 🐛🎉
bit.ly/garden-wild-spreadsheet

The links are to the amazing Database of Insects and Their Food Plants (DBIF) dbif.brc.ac.uk/hosts.aspx

#NativePlants are best for wildlife because invertebrates have co-evolved with them, and _everything_ eats inverterbrates. Nom nom nom 😋

Internal Twitter documents reviewed by The Intercept reveal that the social networking giant provided direct approval and internal protection to the U.S. military’s network of social media accounts and online personas, whitelisting a batch of accounts at the request of the government.

The Pentagon has used this network, which includes U.S. government-generated news portals and memes, in an effort to shape opinion in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, and beyond.

#Natives: if your doc tries to push the narrative that Natives have higher rates of alcohol abuse, please point them to the study below. Natives abstain from alcohol at higher rates (probably because we've been told for several generations that we are drunks) than white people and our binge rate is the same as why folks. I am so tired of this narrative. It hampers our treatment at clinics and leads to mistrust of docs. MDs NEED to be educated on this.

Some great #chemical #ecology here...

Endangered #Miami #blue #butterfly caterpillars provide food to #Florida #carpenter #ants (and perhaps manipulate their behavior?) in return for protective services.

This work also highlights how #conservation efforts can't simply be focused on one #endangered or #threatened species, but rather on #communities and #ecosystems.

Another #introduction, because I was shy about the first one. I'm the author of the NYT bestseller "NeuroTribes: The Legacy of #Autism and the Future of #Neurodiversity," which was the first science book to win the Samuel Johnson Prize for non-fiction in the UK. I'm also a fan of #jazz and other exploratory music, and have written liner notes for the Grateful Dead, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and other groups. I'm married to @WardQNormal. (This is us.) It's exciting to see this community develop!

Why do we call them “central banks” and not “apex creditors”?
