I wouldn't usually link to info on The Other Place, but I'm really very proud of this new paper.

Published by Memory, Mind, Media (Cambridge University Press) today.

It shows how restoring the physical properties of certain objects can also restore memories associated with those objects.

Introducing my new organic, all-natural intelligence search engine: Mark.

It's just this guy Mark. He'll do his best to answer your question, and he'll make up a reasonable-sounding answer real quick if he doesn't have one.

How will we scale? We'll hire more guys named Mark as demand ramps up.

Guess who's a genius? Me!

I had this cupboard in my spare room which previously only had shelves at the back half, because the top front was inaccessible.

The door only goes so far up the cupboard so there's a TONNE of vertical space that wasn't being used. I installed rails that go all the way along.

But... how do you get stuff up on the shelves without the door?

whenever I realize the internet is serving me ads for the wrong demographic, I have this feeling of triumph, as if I'm lighting the torch of revolution by getting Google to think I'm a male business traveler

Właściwie trudno to skomentować.
Więc może zwrócę tylko uwagę, że:

@prywatnie

My friend Niloufar Bayani, a scientist working in ecology & conservation, was baselessly arrested in Iran. She's now been imprisoned for FIVE YEARS.

I, along with some of our mutual friends from McGill University, wrote an article about Nilou to advocate for her immediate release. Nilou has been caged for far too long, for NOTHING.

Anecdotally I've heard people say they're surprised by how many job applications never get *any* response, not even a rejection.

Seems this is part of why: companies are posting fake job openings to mislead investors, employees, and competitors.

(1) Car insurance ads are some of the most creative tv commercials out there.

(2) This also suggests that car insurance must be incredibly overpriced to be able to fund all this.

Our machine learning team was discussing LLaMa & alpaca this morning. One of our devs shared this in the chat jokingly. During the call I only read the left half so I thought it was a legit comparison of the animal...
