Update on scrawny refuge chicken. Last night it slept in the coop for the first time rather than 6’ up a tree in nearby woods. It's been trying to make friends with our two old chickens, but they're a tight clique and it's not easy. Wife put the two away in coop and the other kept circling, making noises, so wife finally opened it up, backed away, and the chicken let itself in.
To say the other two were shocked is to put it mildly. After some roost tussles she made her way into the “bedroom area” and that's the last we saw of her until morning. Nobody was wounded.
I haven't properly fixed the coop for over 2yrs because these last two chickens were surely going to die ANY day. Today my son asked if I was going to work on the coop again.

The Pacific Northwest having decided to throw a heat wave for Mother’s Day, I’m noticing that one of my primary reactions to the heat is drowsiness. Which makes me think that when the heat death of the universe occurs (year after next, most likely), I’ll probably just sleep through it.

*why couldn’t we have chosen a method of ruining the environment that would usher in a permanent ice age or something?

This is what we dug out of the road. They were spaced so a to make sure any car would puncture its tires. This is evil. The road is public. It leads to ruins of two houses, but it is used by technicians who often drive here to fix our electric cables, by people who come to gather mushrooms and berries. The only way to find them was by walking on them. I estimate about a dozen people walk here. Per month. Except for us and our dogs.

Fortunately it didn't go through the sole of my rubber shoe. We inspected it. And the area around.

On our walk with I felt something weird under my shoe on this road. Yes, some people call this a road. It is rarely used, by farmers who drive tractors to their fields and forests.

#DailyOwlUpdate - one of the babies has left the nest, looks like two are still in the nest.

Once owlets leave the nest they don’t return. They “branch” for a few weeks before their wings are mature enough to fly. Their parents will continue to feed them during this period.

@rysiek @FediThing I think a coordinated mass limiting (i.e. "silencing") for a one to two week period might be enough of a shot across the bow without inconveniencing too many users who are caught in the cross fire without being really aware of the issue.

Because of their size/default instance for the official app etc. I feel like limiting is the best near term step. Leaves defed as a final option if things continue to go south.

I've noticed photos get more attention here when shared individually than they do in groups. Alas, there are times I cannot limit the Dottiness 🐈‍⬛️🤷‍♂️😻

Back on Twitter pictures of our dogs fighting were often tagged with – a wordplay on Fight Club. Fajtłapa can be translated as blunderer, nimrod, but "łapa" also means a paw – fighting paws club for blunderers.
