Mieszkam centralnie pod miastem, moja wieś graniczy z #Gdańsk. Jeśli chce dojechać do miasta mam parę opcji: 20 minut spaceru na miejski #autobus który dowiezie mnie na peryferyjne osiedla Gdańska (skąd mogę już ludzko dojechać…), iść 20 minut do wsi obok na „gryfa” (busy jeżdżące po powiecie kartuskim) albo - najwygodniejsza opcja - podjechać gdzieś samochodem. Nie dziwi mnie, że na wsiach ludzie wolą jeździć samochodem, bo do busów trzeba mieć po prostu nerwy. #zbiorkom #polskapowiatowa #wykluczenietransportowe

As we’re getting another new influx of #histodons (as the Fediverse history community is known), it might be worth recalling the histodons list <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zmuH0ffMpCNOEjsReMk5iiqGwiUvhO2TtrM8QKu98SE/edit>. It’s pretty out of date, as it’s been largely neglected since the last big influx in autumn 2022, but if you’re new here it might help you to find your people.

Twitter, once the most powerful real-time information system ever built, so much so someone accidentally live tweeted the death of bin Laden, now not only can’t be used to save lives from bad weather, but won’t even let the existence of bad weather be seen by the weather people.

I mentioned to my PhD chat group buddies that it’d be lovely to see them on Mastodon, and some have agreed to give it a go.

So I’m asking for help. In advance of them arriving, I’d love to be able to point them at this post and replies to find their connections. Are you doing a #phd too? What’s it about? Have you just finished one and have some advice?

Could you help me find as many PhD researchers as possible?

- Sram na chodniku, bo miasto nie zapewniło szaletów
- No musiałem nasrać na tym trawniku, bo do szaletu jest daleko, przecież nie będę chodził taki kawał

Co jakiś czas widzę wpisy na Mastodonie osób, które piszą, że nie do końca go rozumieją. Na wstępie radzę uspokoić Mastodon/Fedivers na początku może wydawać się dziwny albo skąplikowany, lecz z czasem, albo z szybszym wgłębieniem się w temat okazuje się to proste. Dla osób, które chciały by zrozumieć mastodona i trochę bardziej Fedivers mogę polecić „Poradnik o mastodonie” [ który można znaleźć pod adresem: https://mastodon-poradnik.pl/ ]. Poradnik jest być może długi, ale szczegółowy i napisany zrozumiałym językiem. Nie zawsze trzeba czytać go całego, pewnie wystarczy wstęp do zrozumienia podstaw Mastodona.

PS. Jeżeli komuś pomogłem albo ten thoot wydaje się przydatny dla nowych użytkowników, proszę o boosta.

This is going to burst some bubbles, but traffic levels on #Reddit (AFAIK) appear to be close to normal, including mobile traffic. Data is from r/cybersecurity and may not be representative, would love to see other mods post data.

Those that left will be paving the way for a content-filled threadiverse - we'll see if the next wave of enshittification is as-tolerated if there are more lively alternatives.
