Let's replace the expression "Sweating like a whore in church" with the much more accurate and less sex negative "Sweating like a Priest in Court"

Scientific blogs, in particular, make a lot of sense, for two reasons (off the top of my head). First, for disseminating (and practicing disseminating) science in an easy-to-understand format to laypersons. Second, for micro-thoughts or observations that do not warrant a publication.

The questions, of course, are how much work they require and how much interest exists for them.

Nazwa Rejowiec Fabryczny nie wzięła się stąd, że mieszkało tam wielu Rejów, a każdy miał fabrykę. Ale nie dociekałem - może Wam się będzie chciało. Tak czy owak - miasto chyba mało ciekawe. Ciekawie za to wyglądało poszukiwanie drzewa: żadnych namiarów, sugestii, wyłącznie pobieżna informacja, że gdzieś tam rośnie wierzba. Po wielu trudach spotkałem wreszcie na ulicy starszą panią (tak ok 80lat + VAT), która z niepewnością w głosie powiedziała: "Panie, to tam rośnie takie stare drzewo. Starsze chyba ode mnie, bo się na nim bawiłam za dziecka".🤣 I zaczęła snuć opowieści, co udało mi się ukrócić po kwadransie. Wyraźnie była niezadowolona, bo w opowieści doszła dopiero do pierwszej randki. Wzrusz był. 💪
Ta wierzba biała uchodzi za drugą w Polsce pod względem okazałości. Co dziwne - nie jest pomnikiem przyrody. Czekają aż w ciszy umrze? Przecież szkoda drzewa. Otoczenie tak zaniedbane, ze dotrzeć trudno, i może dlatego nie walają się tam śmieci i butelki. Nikt z mieszkańców ani samorządu się nie poczuwa. Którego dnia ktoś zauważy: o - leży. Tylko kto i po co pojedzie wtedy do Rejowca? 🤦‍♂️

glorious lark in heavy rain showers in London this morning. found a complete Roman bone gaming counter dating from AD 50-410. board games were commonplace in Roman Britain, though the rules of some of these games are still little understood. board games were often played at the baths. there were a number baths in Roman London near the site of this find. #mudlarking

Until about a month ago, I could type wayb into my browser bar and Google would autofill waybackmachine and send me to the internet archive. Very neat, today and efficient.

Suddenly the same four letter now send me to WayBack Burgers, which is a Google advertiser (but doesn’t have any business in New Zealand).

This is a clear example of how Google is becoming, not just a lot less useful, but positively poisonous and annoying.

Bing isn’t much better. DuckDuckGo has its own set of problems.

Staying true to yourself is a full-time job, but I'm on hiatus.
