The #Twitter app updating its branding to #X prompted me to open it for the first time in ages. What struck me is quite how much of #climate Twitter (individuals and institutions) is all still there, tweeting away like it’s 2021. For all the #Guardian and #BBC articles flapping over how much the site is in decline, you wouldn’t know it from my feed over there.

Talking to first-time conference attendee who's nervous about social interactions.
My strategies:

1)Line up for coffee, say hi to person behind you. Where are you traveling from? or What do you work on? Safe Qs
2)Patrol posters. ALWAYS someone at poster hoping for interest. It's win-win!
3)Attend networking events, They're made to help you connect!
4)Scan the periphery, where other newbies lurk.
5)Review & adhere to code-of-conduct, get help if someone gets creepy.
And 6)Don't be creepy.

Some remote capture experiments .... and I learned some things. 1 & 2: Gray Catbird, 3: a molting female N. Cardinal, 4: scurrying chipmunk.

Next time:
- I could use a lens with a smaller field of view.
- Arrange the camera and scene such that critters of interest will be on a similar plane, to avoid refocusing.
