I doubt if any person heard this tree fall a few days ago, but I'm lucky it didn't fall over my power line or that would have been a few thousand dollars to repair.

White poplar, about 30 metres (100 feet) high. Snapped off at the base, unlike most other tree species that fall here, which are usually uprooted.

Do you have this too, that when you see that a toot has a lot of replies, you don't reply to it, even though you wanted to in the first place?

Pytanie do ekspertów od peertube – czy kompresować filmy przed uploadem, czy peertube sam uporządkuje za duże? Czy 81 MB to dużo, czy mało?

Collecting anecdotes, data, and anecdata on people and orgs who’ve left Twitter and found higher engagement from ostensibly fewer followers. This is in preparation for a renewed pitch to the org I’m in, to begin the process of x-trication. Boosts appreciated!

@gavi

It's from a well in a glacial moraine.

Bacteria free, a little hard. We have to make sure Nestlé doesn't get their hands on it as they do in a nearby municipality for $3.7 per MILLION litres.

Is your tap water drinkable? Please boost if you can.. I wanna see something…

@SwiftOnSecurity There's this story about a Thinkpad support hotline procedure that's introduced as "You might think I'm crazy, but please bear with me" and then proceeds to instruct to first remove battery and power source and then to press the "on" button repeatedly, long and short presses.

Apparently it's the fast way to make sure that the Embedded Controller really *really* runs out of power and goes into reset, fixing a surprising number of sporadic issues.

Ok, squirrel shenanigans resolved. Hopefully no more bites on the fiber line since it's now in a conduit. Now to work on keeping away bears from the farm server room

Funniest. Review. Ever. Do read all of it. 😂 😂 😂

One fifth of my #Android desktop is dedicated to the current date. I can't seem to get rid of it.

This is valuable real estate but it also bugs me because it is in the wrong format for my language. It is "sunnudagur, des. 10" but should be "Sunnudagur, 10. des" (or just skip the comma).

A part of the error seems to be that since #Icelandic doesn't use a capital letter for weekdays the system assumes it shouldn't have a capital letter in this context (first letter of a "sentence").

The future of the open web is .. the open web.

Since putting up what amounts to a clothesline on my roof a month ago, I've managed to transmit and make contact with 37 states (and multiple countries) using 10 watts.

This is the power equivalent of putting an LED lightbulb on my roof, flicking it on and off, and having the east coast see it and reply.

Never ceases to feel amazing to me. #hamradio

Why does it have to rain on weekends? It rained all morning and into the afternoon. Kengo was itching to go out. We finally found a window of opportunity to go for a walk in the park in GA, USA. Woods after the rain looked and smelled good, but we had to turn around as it started to get misty. He was not happy. #dog #dogs #DogsOfMastodon #rescuedogs #AdoptDontShop #statepark #photography #fujifilm

Periodic reminder just leaving shit unplugged for hours does fix things. Fucking capacitors are everywhere and you have to defeat them.

Fixed a washing machine like this. Just fixed my motherboard despite me hitting the reset to defaults button AND removing the battery.

Sometimes you got to just give things a time-out in a corner to think about what they did.
