RevK's privacy-friendly GPS logger

My very clever friend, @revk, has been making a GPS logger which requires no third party account or server, after I said I was looking for one.

Here are my initial thoughts on using it.

tl;dr: it just works. It automatically logs our journeys to an on-board micro-SD card, and uploads them, via https POST, to my webserver, when it connects to Wi-Fi. And it runs Free software!

@neil You really want to open a can of worms, don't you! (It's actually not unreasonable to discuss NFTs in this context, but I am just not going there.)

First, copyright law is somewhat different in every country. I suspect that most exercise is done in the US, since the web is still US-centric.

Second, it doesn't matter what is driving the spider that does the drive-by. Whether it's AI or horse and buggy is irrelevant. The important question to ask is how it is used after the buggy does the drive-by.

Google has successfully defended displaying results of searches, so long as they don't manipulate those results.

I had a dream about the doe I killed at 12 years old. So here is the story of why I don't eat meat.

When i was 12 growing up in rural northern Idaho (in the booming metropolis of Bonner's Ferry) my dad sent me out hunting alone. He gave me a 20-20 a knife and a sled and dropped me off at a trailhead in the rockies and told me where he'd pick me up in 6 hours. 1/2

My son sent me this, I have no idea where it's from but it's perfect.

Not seen in the photo, but the wall had to be repaired a bit further along with new bricks. I wonder how long until the moss starts to grow on it.
Also, car drivers should be more careful and not drive into walls.

They necessarily rely on social ties for survival, looking after each others' kids, loaning each other money they can't afford, sharing what little they have when others have nothing.

It's this social cohesion that MLMs weaponize. Crypto "entrepreneurs" are told to suck in friends and family by telling them that they're "building Black wealth." Working women are exhorted to suck in their bffs by appealing to their sisterhood and the chance for "women to lift each other up."

In every scam, there's a period where everyone feels richer - but only the scammers are *actually* cleaning up. The wealth of the marks is illusory, but the longer the scammer can preserve the illusion, the more real money the marks will pump into the system.

MLMs are particularly ugly, because they target people who are shut out of economic opportunity - women, people of color, working people.
