TIL about Kett's Rebellion!

Led by Robert Ket, himself a landowner, a rebel army of sixteen thousand peasants captured Norwich, England’s second-largest city. They set up their “court” on Mousehold Heath outside the city, where they maintained their cause for six weeks. They demanded that “lords, knights, esquires, and gentlemen” be stopped from commercial stock-raising, and rent-gouging, and from privatizing common lands. We can agree with Bindoff that this was “a radical programme, indeed, which would have clipped the wings of rural capitalism.”

When I graduated as an engineer, a friend told me "How do you feel entering a plane when you know that people like us build it".

I’ve worked several years in the automotive industry and saw how software was done there.

When the 737-MAX crashed, I entered into the rabbit-hole and built a really good understanding of the software issue.

The result are:

- I don’t board a boeing plane anymore.
- I avoid cars as much as I can.
- I be sure to recommend cars with the less possible software.

I will now create a cognitive test for those who need one.

1- Explain how you can tell that one person is more intelligent than another. Be sure to define the word "intelligence" as part of your answer.

2- What is the next number in this sequence: 1024, 512, 256, 128, _________ .

Wahoo--dinner time! I think two questions are plenty. Don't want to stress the cogs.

After a week long gap in resupply flights we had two LC-130 aircraft on the deck yesterday at NPX South Pole Station. I've been supporting flight following in the comms office where it went from boring to busy *very* quickly.

The of are thawing way too early, but the only blue skies we can see are down-under.

We've had a few centimetres of snow in the last 24 hours, but it's barely below freezing.

FYI cis women/fems in tech - it's not just in your head. Misogyny is EXTREMELY real ALL OVER THE PLACE here. Having been the EXACT SAME PERSON with EVEN MORE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE in tech both BT/AT (Before tits/After tits), the amount of second guessing and pushback and mansplaining, and being told I'm "too emotional" or "I should be more polite" and whatever else has gone up DRAMATICALLY.

Seriously.

PS: And it's not just from men either. I've probably received at least as much misogyny from women in tech as I have men.

@neil Not sure, but I do know they have multiple processors.... they run on 8 ARMs

Przypadek pierwszy - Przychodnia Weterynaryjna Sp z o.o., dawniej LuxVet a w międzyczasie bodaj LuxVet Edina. Cc @8petros @frankboon

Three days ago I picked up my car from a local mechanic who was supposed to fix it. Today driving to the village store uphill through deep wet snow I heard a few loud bangs. Really loud, and I was pretty sure I was back to zero cars, as I had been for the past three weeks. I know almost nothing about cars, but when I looked underneath I saw what caused the banging – I lost the rear power shaft (it's still lying somewhere on the road in the snow) and the joint (or whatever you call it, I don't know the terminology) was banging on the underside of the car. I managed to very loudly inch my way a few hundred metres to the nearest house. A mechanic (a different one) lives there. He removed the banging joint and I could go shopping, although driving a 4WD degraded into a 2WD on snowy and muddy rural roads is no fun. But I managed to bring home food and that LoRaWAN sensor I'm supposed to start testing (there are no deliveries to our house at this time of the year– stuff gets left at the village store). How was your afternoon?

@szescstopni ja jeszcze nic nie umiem więc co mam mówić :) na razie koniec pierwszej prezentacji
