When Neil Armstrong stepped out of the capsule and onto the moon in 1969, he became the first human ever to set foot on the moon. At that moment, he said _____________________?

Beautiful post on craft and care and maintenance here. She mentions the dangers of pursuing speed (of production) over safe and consistent cadence, and I think this applies more widely to kinds of work where there is pressure to optimise something in the name of efficiency (rather than necessarily speed) without considering the unintended consequences. Or perhaps some of those consequences are intentional after all...

A cool Saturday morning. Heat is forecast to come back later next week, but I feel (hope) autumn is coming. Kengo did a happy dance wanting to go when I put on my clothes. #dog #dogs #DogsOfMastodon #rescuedogs #AdoptDontShop #photography #FujiFilm
Manuscript submitted! "Naming the menagerie: creativity, culture, and consequences in the formation of scientific names", with @Jjmlynarek , now on its way to peer review. Safe travels, little creation of our brains!
I'm quoted in this paper about the problems with #What3Words.

As a reminder, W3W is a proprietary and for-profit system which shouldn't be used anywhere near government or emergency services. It is prone to catastrophic failure and their business model appears to be unsustainable.

Apple graveyard.
It's not been a great year for apples (or pears). Most of them rotted on the tree. Of the remaining ones, every single one had at least one worm in it.
We hauled 2.5 sacks of the better ones to a fruit press at a nearby village. Got 53 Liters of worm, err, apple juice back. Not that sweet, but drinkable.
We'll be pissing butterflies! Ok, probably just moths.
@Keltounet @hywan I watched my mother progressively (and completely) lose the ability to use her iMac during her final decade because Apple kept f*cking around with the Mac OS X user interface, the way Mail worked, the colour of the window maximize/minimize buttons, and stuff that probably looked trivial to a 30-something UI designer but was deeply disruptive to an 80 something with impaired memory. And by losing that access, she lost touch with friends (via email).
