Is there a scientific illustrator on here who could do a reasonably easy piece of work quite quickly (within the next 2 weeks or so say) for an article I'm writing?
Or can anyone recommend somebody? Ideally Denmark based (for financial simplicity), but elsewhere not impossible...

Today I measured/estimated the diameters of all (or most) of the larger oaks in the Leam Valley reserve and two from the golf course, then estimated (very roughly) the age.

If the age estimates are vaguely accurate, no oaks from the 1700s. Most of the existing oaks grow along hedge lines, and many hedges were created only after Enclosure Acts passed by parliament in the 18th and 19th century. So perhaps there were very few oak trees near the farm prior to hedge planting.

I love useless data, and NetMonster is a perfect app for this. It shows a lot of information about the cell network stations your phone is connected to. Here's a log of the BTSs my phone was using as I was driving through Poland.

We made a robot and landed it on a rock hurtling through space, took samples of that rock, and just this morning, landed the samples safely back on Earth. Scientists will study them for decades. Who knows what they'll learn, about the history of the solar system and the universe. All without endangering human crew or spending the resources needed to support them.

Congratulations to the OSIRIS-REx team and everyone at NASA who has to hear people complain that we don't do amazing things anymore.
