In the early morning hours #OTD in 1923, Edwin Hubble took a photo plate of M31 showing a Cepheid variable star.
Using Henrietta Swan Leavitt’s distance-luminosity relationship, Hubble concluded that M31 is located outside the Milky Way.
This observation established that there are other galaxies besides our Milky Way, that our little island is not the whole Universe.

Perhaps I should fuck EM radiation, avoid the hassle with overcrowded frequencies, buy some #fungi and switch to a sporenet.
Mushrooms are supposed to be everywhere at this time of the year. A customer called today to report connection loss. They said the connection went down four hours earlier, and they went on a mushroom hunt, thinking this was a minor glitch and everything would be fine by the time they got back. Turned out the BTS had to be restarted, and it took some 15 minutes. But I learned that in their area, some 30 km away, there were also very few mushrooms, and most of them were infested with worms.
Some of our #RuralBroadband customers use the company e-mail for complaints not directly connected to our services. Like "There are very few #mushrooms in the forest this year". What can I say? "Try turning the forest off, wait 60 seconds, then turn it on again".

I just had a beautiful large bull moose leisurely cross the highway right in front of me.
Luckily I'm one of those pesky drivers who pretty much stick to the speed limit 😊 .
