I can't stand the whole phenomenon: it feels like some rich guy figured that simply climbing mount everest or crossing the desert makes him look selfish (it absolutely does), so he slaps on a charity to reputation-wash the endeavour. Everyone who is 'doing CrazyThing for charity' was going to do CrazyThing anyway.

Just give money to charity without these stupid charades. Or better yet: pay your damn taxes.

You know, we all bite off more than we can chew sometimes.

I only found this apple tree this spring, when it flowered for the first time.

Presumably grew from a seed carried by a bird or maybe a mammal, from a nearby tree.

The apples are delicious, though hard to reach.

Dziś powinniśmy oddawać więcej miejsca przyrodzie – tego, które zostało jej zabrane i obecnie już nie musi być intensywnie użytkowane. Kiedyś, po II wojnie światowej ludzie chcieli wyjść z traumy biedy i gospodarze musieli osuszać łąki na pastwiska. Pracować musiał każdy skrawek ziemi. Ale później tego zaniechano i dziś już nie mamy takiego modelu rolnictwa. Oddanie przyrodzie miejsca jest ważniejsze, niż hasła „wyłącz światło na godzinę” – tłumaczy Paweł Średziński.
