@gerrymcgovern I can get almost any part required to economically fix faults on thirty year old bicycles. A few inexpensive parts make them ride as well as they did when new, resulting in lots of happy customers as a result.
Parts for three year old e-bikes on the other hand are almost always unavailable. Customers ask me quite often and I do my best to find compatible parts, but I usually cannot. On the rare occasions when parts like batteries, motors or controller electronics actually are available my customers *always* find them too expensive and don't buy them. Those bikes usually end up in landfill at a very young age.
I find it very sad, but that's how it is.
E-bikes are great for companies which sell new bikes, but pretty rotten for people like me who want to help people to keep the bikes that they already have in working order for as long as possible.

Hilfe. Leute, lasst Euch beim Heizungstausch keinen Bären aufbinden. Gerade jetzt im Hessen Fernsehen empfiehlt ein Energie-Berater alles außer einer Wärmepumpe. Pellets, Infrarot Lehmheizung. Wärmepumpen läge bei 50000€ nach Förderung, weil alle Heizkörper getauscht werden müssen.
Nein, das ist alles falsch. Eine Wärmepumpe funktioniert meistens mit den normalen Heizkörpern und kostet keine 50000€. Macht euch selbst kundig, ich hatte hier schon viele Tipps gegeben.

Last Christmas a got a #cycling computer with GPS, which means that it's been recording most of my routes for a full year. I learned about the total altitude gain (more than 200km - that's from sea level to "space") and the total distance (15,000km). Recording speed, distance, altitude, etc, is certainly motivating but I've decided not to engage in a race against my younger self.
This is picture, taken today, shows the same Beaver-formed meadow that I've shared some time before.

I am hunting a [#Persian | #Iranian | #Farsi ] #song of #protest I once (2017-18 I guess) downloaded from the YT.
It was a #video #collage of #women of all ages, doing "indecent" things: playing football, riding horses, shooting bows, working in the laboratory, dancing or just standing on the street - all off them clapping hands in a short sequence, which was obviously some kind of defiant signal.
The creator, and "narrator" of this was a man in his fifties, heavily bearded in an unkempt style. As a as I remember, no word was spoken, just music, clapping and writing on the wall.
It was very powerful and a jewel in my long gone collection of anti-patriarchal video-clips.
Now I am trying to find it again. Will somebody #help me, please?

O dacie obchodzenie Bożego Narodzenia, potencjalnie obraźliwe
Więc jak to jest, że różne grupy chrześcijan obchodzą święta w różne dni?
Najpierw, różni ludzie celebrowali przesilenie zimowe na różne sposoby. Miało to sens, bo to ważne wydarzenie astronomiczne, punkt zwrotny dla pór roku.
A potem przyszło chrześcijaństwo i przywłaszczyło sobie te obchody. Dla nich miało to sens. Wszak trudno jest przekonać ludzi, by porzucili swoją wiarę. Znacznie łatwiej powiedzieć "hej, patrzcie, mamy takie same zwyczaje", zmienić ich znaczenie i, kilka pokoleń później, ludzie już nie pamiętają, skąd się to wszystko wzięło. Nawet dziś chrześcijanie są tak bardzo przekonani o chrześcijańskim pochodzeniu swoich zwyczajów, że są gotowi atakować innowierców za "kopiowanie" ich zwyczajów.
Jednakże chrześcijaństwo stosowało kalendarz juliański, w którym lata się rozjeżdżały. Po pewnym czasie, stały dzień obchodów Bożego Narodzenia nie pokrywał się już z przesileniem grudniowym. W końcu, kalendarz rozjechał się tak bardzo, że Watykan zgodził się na reformę i zaczęto używać kalendarza gregoriańskiego. Za to prawosławni nadal używają juliańskiego, bo tak.
Więc koniec końców, wszyscy chrześcijanie obchodzą święta w ten sam dzień, w przybliżeniu odpowiadający przywłaszczonemu przesileniu grudniowemu, tyle że niektórzy z nich używają przestarzałego kalendarza słonecznego, który nie działa.
