1) Influenza is now slamming Quebec children under the age of 9 more than ever, with that group representing 34% of all new flu infections across the province in an epidemic that has yet to peak, according to a report made public Monday by the provincial public health institute.

Many places base their mask policies on the CDC Community Levels map. But this is a deceptive map as it overemphasizes hospitalizations, leading to far fewer places being aware they already need mask mandates to PREVENT hospitalizations in the first place.

I'm a PhD biologist working on using localization microscopy to build a new sequencing technology using the Julia language at a startup in Cambridge, MA.

Apart from science, my posting interests include liberal/progressive politics, current events, science fiction, video/computer/board games, and technology.

Also this is my pup, Willow. She is named after the character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. 🙂
