My first post and for #FungiFriday this lovely bit of very wobbly Amber Jelly Fungus, Exidia recisa. Well named, as it glowed a beautiful amber when the sun shone through it briefly! 🤎#fungi
Happy #FluorescentFriday folks! Because everything seems a little dark on the otherside, we are sharing some color-tastic eye-popping pics to kick off the week-end.... #cilia #flagella #MicroscopeMagic #TubulinCode

Given what's going on on Twitter, I am going to try to move some of my key threads (on which I put a lot of effort, and that have some historical value) to Substack.
Just started, it does take some work:
Just updated server resources: more RAM, more hard disk space. LMK how it is doing.
Seeing many instances pause new users during this wave, working hard not to.
In related news: thank you for all instance members hwo have given, and if you are here and have not, even $1 a month helps!

"The papers, published in 2006 when Schrag was an undergraduate working in Ghribi’s lab at the University of North Dakota (UND), covered research on several factors related to amyloid proteins in rabbit brains. (Many Alzheimer’s researchers believe the disease is caused by amyloid’s effects on human brains.) Schrag soon discovered the suspect work in the two papers fit a large pattern of questionable research spanning much of Ghribi’s career, both before and after they worked together."
In this episode we caught up with @elenagomezdiaz@twitter.com from @ipbln_csic@twitter.com. She shared with us her work on the Epigenetics in Human #Malaria Parasites.

-Time for a short #Introduction-
I am a group leader in #MedicinalChemistry at the University of Parma. My lab combines #chemical & #computational techniques to develop novel pharmacological tools to study different Chronic Diseases (#CysticFibrosis, #IBD, #Hypercholesterolemia, #Alzheimer, #Cancer) and Infective Agents (#SARSCoV2, #Enterovirus, #Flavivirus, #Monkeypox, #HIV).
We are particularly interested in the development of #MultiTarget inhibitors and open to new #collaborations in #DrugDiscovery.

“The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common.
They don't alter their views to fit the facts.
They alter the facts to fit their views.
Which can be uncomfortable . . .
if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering"

usually the human being mind/body complex
Looking at a piece of art, film, dreaming, reading
are all areas of partial 'drifting' into other #InstanceDimensions
These movements are enhanced by the practice of will
and are a common practice in initatory ritual, shamanism
and forms of spirit or ideal attunement and alignment
In such practices a transfer of willed being activates
a thought form, which may have no mass, energy or being
but be transferable to object or person

Masks work
The simplest way you can make yourself, your family, & your community safer is to wear a well-fitted, high-quality mask, such as the N95 pictured here, any time you're indoors in public, or in any crowd.
Hubble Spies Galactic Traffic Jam
#NASA #ImageOfTheDay NGC 3887 is one of many galaxies in our universe with spiral arms, just like our own Milky Way. Until the 1960s, the behavior of spiral arms was an astronomical puzzle. The arms emanate from a spinning core and "should" therefore become wound up ever more tightly over time. Instead, they move more slowly, like an interstellar traffic jam.

Hubble Hooks a One-Arm Galaxy
#NASA #ImageOfTheDay Located about 21 million light-years from our galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici, NGC 4618 has a diameter of about one-third that of our Milky Way. Together with its neighbor, NGC 4625, it forms an interacting galaxy pair, which means that the two galaxies are close enough to influence each other gravitationally.

Eagle Nebula’s Pillars of Creation in Infrared
#NASA #ImageOfTheDay In this Hubble Space Telescope image, researchers has revisited one of Hubble's most iconic and popular images: the Eagle Nebula’s Pillars of Creation.

Hubble Spots Spirals Within a Spiral
#NASA #ImageOfTheDay A galaxy having so many distinct rings is rare, making NGC 2273 unusual. Galaxy NGC 2273 hosts an inner ring and two outer “pseudorings." Rings are created when a galaxy's spiral arms appear to loop around and nearly close upon one another.
