Did you farming is a source of strains of bacteria that have developed #antibiotic resistance?
A new report from the United Nations Environment Programme shines a spotlight on this important issue and makes suggestions on how we could address it. You can find out more at https://lnkd.in/g9Ec4sy5
The story even includes a quote from your truly :-)

Also, for my fellow theory nerds: These (below) are all the theories represented in the review. Loss framing outperformed gain framing, though the relationship was moderated by health beliefs such as perceived risk & severity. Behavior change theory is still not being utilized adequately or as intended, and the theory literature is still plagued by the vocabulary mismatch problem, but that’s not news to anyone.
Ask me stuff about theory; I love it, and I want everyone else to love it, too.

Our review covered the time period from the start of the pandemic through Feb 2022. The finding about misinformation wasn’t even the primary RQ we set out to explore, but it’s definitely the most important finding.
We’ve spent years warning that vaccine misinfo leads to vaccine hesitancy — but we aren’t even properly addressing this link in vaccine messaging campaigns. So how do we expect to mitigate the harms?
IMO, this speaks to a broader problem of COVID vaccine messaging failures. There’s often such a huge disconnect between the people designing the messages and the people they’re trying to reach, and we are paying the price for that.
We have SO MANY studies looking at predictors of misinfo-sharing & belief in misinfo, but we lack a basic understanding of how to mitigate the associated harmful behavioral outcomes — which, ultimately, is the whole point of studying misinfo in the first place.
Our #COVID19 decisions have to be guided more by impact to quality of life than death. People keep repeating that things are safer, but given COVID is evolving, disables so many, and is known to raise autoimmune and cardiovascular risks, we need to rethink “safer.” Here's one personal story to make the case: A chef in Shropshire has taken the decision to shut the restaurant he has run for more than three decades due to losing his sense of taste after catching Covid-19.

A new Iowa bill would allow 14 to 17-year-olds to work in mining, meatpacking, demolition, operating guillotine shears, and other dangerous jobs.
Under the business-backed bill, employers wouldn't be civilly liable if kids are injured or killed. The new Iowa bill would also completely lift a ban on 14 and 15-year-olds working in freezers and meat coolers, and allow kids as young as 14 1/2 to drive themselves to work.

Bill also would shield businesses from liability
The bill exempts businesses from civil liability if a student is sickened, injured or killed due to the company's negligence. A business also would be free of civil liability if a student is hurt because of the teen's negligence on the job — or is injured traveling to or from work. https://newsie.social/@toussaint/109825732126590543

'The results obtained suggest that the peer review system is not substantially better than random selection in identifying the best candidates once an initial pre-selection of the most promising ones is performed.'
