@freemo To English-fuckup-quote a Dutch proverb: Gotta row with the oars you have!

Is it weird that I like the web version of Outlook more than the desktop version? :P

At least dark mode can be applied more effectively on the web version. And it's got a better overview and shit than the broken theme of the desktop version. (Okay, I might've broken it a little, but still! Irrelevant! Totally!)

I just wish I knew how to turn off the spellcheck... the stupid English dictionary is learning a shitton of Dutch words now. :P

@freemo (Especially against those who demand that 'I fix their document because I made it' but it turns out it's an unversioned document from before I joined and fixed it up...)

@freemo That'd be a justified use of that stupid thing, actually. :P

@freemo You don't know what a mess it was here before I arrived. People didn't know what versions of a document they were using. Some were smart enough to add dates to filenames, but still..

@freemo Not really. The end results have to be different like this. If I'm the only one using git, it'd still be useless overall around here.

@freemo At least that way it's easier to see if Document A v3 is made around the same time as Document B v5. I can see the merit in that. Modified dates aren't always that reliable.

I'll go for v<date> now. :P Today's version is v211213! Good luck making 211213 copies! :D

@StroomAfwaarts Yeah, sometimetimes I do that too. But as I can have multiple versions in one day... It depends on which documents.

Boss: This is the latest documents we have.

Me: Oh, that's v2, I have v3 here, so I'll send them over to you.

Boss: But it has (3) behind the filename. Isn't that uptodate?

Me: Nah, that's a copy of a copy of a copy. That's why I put a v before the number! ;)

Boss: I don't understand...

Oh boy! 😋

@sergeant@mstdn.social Oh hou op, ik krijg spontaan honger nu! 🍴

Is dit voor de komende dagen ofzo? 1x koken, daarna geen omkijken naar?

@StroomAfwaarts

@CarlCravens Except instead of bolstering the economy, it's actually killing the economy as nobody can work at fair prices because the prisoners' low wages undercut them.

“Why isn’t the new year on the winter solstice?”

The answer, honestly, is that the Romans had no fucking idea how to run a calendar.

Like, seriously, people notice "OCTOber" and "DECEMber" and say, "hey, those mean 'eight' and 'ten', but they're the 10th and 12th months, what's up with that?".

If you've got a little more history, you'll know that July and August are named after Julius and Augustus Caesar, and think, "oh, they added those two months and bumped the rest of the months back."

Nope. The Romans were way, way worse at calendars than that.

@noelle Ah cool. I've read this wacky story before in a chain of toots, this is easier to read. :)
