@TwoDogs Yeah, this server theme's is STEM-oriented, though you can chat away about hobbies and movies and whatnot too. You can totally nerd out here, which is nice. :)

@PawelK Oh gods. ;)

@TwoDogs Well, for starters you are currently on Qoto, a Mastodon instance which is part of the Fediverse.

And how you came to be on here... please allow me to speculate:
You might've had a grand evening last night, so grand that you completely blacked out. For some obscure reason you managed to type in some random letters in your browser ending up as 'qoto.org' and decided to sign up.. totally in a blacked out state which is impressive!

And now.. well. Now you've got a hangover and have to deal with us.

Sorry.

(But welcome to Qoto! ;) )

@dusan Indeed. And it's the best way to show the world at large that, yes, every account from their domain is verified as coming from them! And it doesn't cost $8 a month! ;)

Sure, the server costs money.. but if they are big they already have a server lying around anyway.

@dusan Ah that's a different kind of 'convenience'. The vendor lock-in kind of convenience. It's getting about time that every news outlet and project gets moved over to a more accessible medium. ;)

@Sbectol

This picture isn't 100%, but it should already give you a very decent overview of the various sign language families.

BSL is totally seperate (the British didn't want to learn from those damn Frenchies...). ASL and related are the most common. Dutch Sign Language (NGT) and ASL have the same ancestor, so there's some overlap (but still very distinct sign languages).

@Sbectol Hehe, I'm not going to film myself and putting it anywhere online. ;)

BSL is wildly different, I can't understand any of that lol.

@Theraviranjankr I'm reading your post, so I guess everything got covered for today! ;)

@Sbectol Cool, not really a topic that interests me at all though.

1) From Reddit
2) Conspiracy theory
3) About Musk
4) About Twitter

😋

@Sbectol They can try. :)

@supergarv Where'd you get the faultier one? Asking for a friend who claims this is his spirit animal. ;)

@dusan Some already completely ditched their Twitter account. And I'm not sure what conveniences have to be sacrificed, because IMO the Fediverse is a lot more convenient. Every time I'm on Twitter I'm close to popping a vein in frustration.

@edjeff A few keyboard clicks.

@bykimbo Welcome to Qoto and the Fediverse!

@ssbozy Welcome to Qoto and the Fediverse!

@SebastienK Grappig, ben ik nog niet echt tegengekomen in onze lokale tijdslijn... Klinkt best irritant.

@marind

In their about page they list the blocked servers on the bottom:
https://masto.donte.com.br/about/more

They have not put in a reason. You'd best ask them why because we don't know.

@marind You'd better ask the other instance. Qoto doesn't block by default.

@jonkk Ahh, memories, nostalgia!
