@EubieDrew
It might help if you mentioned the accounts, or at least the servers they're on.
And do they have a lock next to their names in their profile pages?

I have seen all those messages as well. Like a half hour ago. I was tempted to respond to them, but it'd be not really an useful endeavour. The way we discuss right now wouldn't be possible there as they'd do the equivalent of putting fingers in the ear and go 'nanana'.

For starters, they won't be able to see messages or boosts from the bad actor instances. They blocked them already, remember? We wouldn't be able to change that. Whatever we'd boost, they'd not see it if it came from those blocked instances.

And just because Qoto doesn't block the bad instances itself, Qoto users are suddenly 'people who literally want them and their friends dead'? That's quite a hyperbole.

And if I recall correctly, all new users got the recommendation to use a Fediblock to import if they don't want to see the bad actors. The federated timeline looks fine to me, I use blocks liberally myself.

Everyone you happened to quote there, those are likely people I wouldn't think worth my time to interact with as it'd be complaints most of the way anyway. I'd rather have a more positive outlook on life. And I'm sure so do you as your posts have proven. :)

I agree in general with your sentiment.
Except for one thing:

> 'Saying it's up to individual users to block things they don't want to see feels a bit privileged.'

We don't mind other instances blocking other instances. The problem is that the toxic ones do so for the wrong reasons. Like blocking others because they don't block the same instances as they do, and then trying to convince other instances to block the same.

If one instance wants to block half the Fediverse, that's up to them. Totally. They can be a walled garden for all I care. But then to spread their blocklist and say 'this is the one true safe blocklist' seems ... well, they basically become the very people they hate.

@crosswordman My first thought was 'there is an imposter among us'. ;)

Nice tails!

@sabinehiller I just read the first sentence and wanted to saaaaay.... the exact same as the rest that I then read. In short, I agree. ;)

@freemo It's nice to see in that thread that a lot of people are disagreeing with this narrow world view.

No surprise, now these toxic bullies from tech.lgbt are trying to have private conversations with me, which I of course indulge, and then quote whatever ammo they can use out of context and dump the rest...

It is amazing these people trust anyone who is so clearly **not** being transparent.

Qoto.org blocking, genocide mention

@Lowie@universeodon.com That's why you need to look at the price history. ;)

@ancient_catbus Ah ok. Personally I find it handy here in case of videogames.

But in supermarkets I get a bit annoyed if it is a '2+2' while I only need 1. 1+1 would have been doable, but noooo.

@ancient_catbus Well, the bundle has a higher discount, and the dev of that game was so nice to subtract the prices of your currently owned games from the bundle. (I know publishers who don't, poo and barf on them)

@EubieDrew @obi I just wanted to comment that it might be a blip in the matrix and to try again in a few mins.
It happens sometimes, probably when either server was a bit overloaded for a moment.

@EubieDrew @obi There is no 'grandfathering in'. If that instance would block Qoto, you'd get unfollowed automatically.

That said, I managed to follow her too, so it's nothing weird here.

@undefined @tonic Well.. I've got 2 siblings. Both low cost marriages and only family and 1-2 direct friends.. one is still married, the other's not.

Soo uh.. 50-50? ;)

@comrad I did see that title pass by, and I might've added it to the watchlist already. I'll take a peek at it, thanks!
