@freemo Ehhh, I don't know how that funeral went (I don't watch this on TV). If you'd told me that the Brits cheaped out and brought him like this to his grave, I'd totally have believed you right there.

@deesapoetra

@freemo But isn't this called a paradox? What's the big bang for this one?

Kind of reminds me of 12 Monkeys. I should watch that movie again, that one was so confusing.

@freemo But if he turned evil later in life and killed millions, then the time travellers won't even matter. He will still turn evil later and kill millions, time travellers or no.

If the time travellers were the ones who caused the very thing, then he couldn't have turned evil later before the time travellers came into effect, so the time travellers wouldn't even had a reason to go kill him and...

Ye gods, am I seeing the end of the galaxy unfolding? Wow! It's a pretty sight!

;)

@samurro I started out with Joplin, which was great! It really has improved since the last time I used it (which was 2 years before). So I started looking into plugins for Joplin and thought hey cool! Nice features!

Then I decided to take a peek at Obsidian and wow.. they're way more advanced. Especially backlinks is a great feature there, something which is only an afterthought in one of Joplin's plugins. Then I found out Obsidian has way more plugins as well, with much more potential.

Sorry, Joplin. I switched over to Obsidian. It's just way too smooth.

The only thing(s) I miss from Joplin are 1) that folders and notes are in seperate panes. 2) And that a note can contain characters that isn't possible in a filename, like ":", "/" etc, because of Joplin's way of storing files. 3) And because of (2) you can have the note names be part of a to-do list so that a folder becomes a to-do list in itself where each task is a note.

(1) can be possibly fixed in Obsidian if the devs will bother with separating, or if a great plugin comes along to fix that. However with (2).. I've learned to live with it, and Obsidian at least allows you to give an alias to a note. And with (3) being impossible because of (2), there are alternative ways of tackling this kind of thing thanks to some plugins.

The extra benefit of Obsidian is that they all use basic markdown files. Joplin encrypts everything (might be a bonus, depends), so you're stuck with Joplin and can't use any other markdown program or even a simple text editor to read the files. Icky if Joplin somehow stops working and you need the data.

That's just my 2 cents, because I've had a hell of a ride with both those software the past few months. :)

@pixelpaperyarn I've broken up mine in multiple vaults since I use each vault for very different purposes and don't want the gajillion tags and aliases cluttering up each other. I also intend to use different plugins (besides the must-haves that I'll use in every vault) depending on the needs of those vaults.

I've also prepared the shortcuts to those vaults (Obsigames, Obsifood, Obsiwork etc) so I can easily just start up whichever vault I need at the moment.

Everything in one vault just became too unwieldy in long term.

@mur2501 Heh, sounds like you need your own place. Start searching. ;)

@freemo I'm seeing a paradox there. If he was so good and compassionate to begin with, why would there even be any time travelers trying to kill him?

If you work with markdown and have to display spreadsheets regularly...

You'll thank me later. :P

@freemo You have to differentiate between dead and undead here.

Did he do something 28 years ago?

@art_zdesiseitsas I'm just idly wondering if your artwork wouldn't be better off in an instance that's actually focused on art? Or, nowadays, if a Pixelfed instance wouldn't be a better option for showcasing your stuff?

@freemo Can we even be sure he's really dead? It might be some distraction move!

@freemo Perfect timing. Much better than doing it in the winter when you'd be locked up indoors anyway!

Hope you'll enjoy the extra aroma!

@freemo *Farts into your general direction*

Just wait a few months before it's crossed the ocean.

@freemo I have no idea how I'd start up a new business. I think I need to have it very well formulated, be well documented, in order to convince a bank that I need the money to make them rich! Either that, or get a private investor who believes in me.

@freemo It's also entirely possible that I'm talking out of my ass. :P I've never been that interested in finances, as long as I can pay for stuff, heh.

@freemo Yeah. I need to 'prove' that I can pay for it. For home owners getting a big loan, it's apparently not that unusual that their home's a collateral. Usually it gets into a 2nd or so mortgage.

@freemo Wellll.. I'm obviously not going to put this to the test. :D

But from what I understand.. Banks want to know your income, the kind of job contract (long term, temp, etc), your expenses, your debts, if you have a (negative) BKR-notation (sorta credit score, but I believe you only get it when you've had debts you couldn't pay back?).

If you have a negative BKR-notation, a bank might not be an option. So you can go elsewhere, but the % is higher.

There seem to be various ways of borrowing money without a bank. I'm not seeing the forest anymore because of all the trees, though. This truly is very alien territory for me. :P

@freemo Well, there are sites like geld.nl that gives you the top X companies that can loan you money for whatever conditions etc. I don't know, I don't have experience with this. The only (huge) debt I've ever had (and paid off) is a study debt. And when I owned a house, a mortgage that I paid nicely every month. Nothing else. But there seems to be plenty of ways of loaning money. And I'm suspecting they might be kind of licensed to check into your finances via a bank or something.

I have zero experience of getting into debt. :P

@freemo Agreed. There shouldn't even be such a thing as 'credit score' imo. Many companies don't even have any business knowing about your payment history. And big businesses (banks and government stuff) have a way of looking into your finances anyway.
