@birv2 That's actually the sane approach, yeah. After a while of using the software you'll get a better idea of what features you'd like to add.

Of course. That'd have been too easy. Just visiting my parents and eat mom's delicious food, then spend a few hours relaxing...

Nope, I have to fix their computer, printer, tablet, and a new phone.

Parents... 😋

@AnnTelope You can call them posts if you'd like. I don't care either way. ;)

Welcome to Qoto and the Fediverse!

@freemo Oh yes, some have a Julian calendar instead. And what about Islamic calendars? It's the whole reason the Ramadan is on a different time of year every year. A fair amount of places do use a different calendar system.

It's just that for the world's sanity's sake we apparently have agreed on one single calendar to interact with each other...

And of course the West colonized a lot of countries, forcing our known calendar on them.. that might've aided a bit too. :P

TwitterPOL

@urusan Yeah. Our current ex-Twitter-userbase people are actually great. They're the smart ones who recognizes a sinking ship that has to be abandoned.

@freemo Oh gods, a 7-day week goes back even further than that. It corresponds with the phases of the moon. Full, waning half, new, waxing half. Though it'd not be perfect as it's not exactly 28 days, so some days got added sometimes in the final week. So the concept dates back to like 21st century BC apparently.

Look what you made me do.. I had to look it up and learn something!

Sinteremaartenmikmak

@hvangalen Ik doe het zelfs nog beter: Ik ga naar mijn ouders toe, en als dit hele St Maartengedoe klaar is kan ik misschien wat snoepen daar. ;)

@Baley Make sure you'll free up some time soon to eat something! Good luck!

@birv2 I can _highly_ recommend utilizing YAML (frontmatter) to categorize notes and such. That'll be very useful in the long term. It might seem a bit pointless at first, but once you get around to the Dataview even-deeper-rabbit-hole, you'll be glad you did.

@lourens Ah okay. Just take your time, something new is always a bit overwhelming. But it's not a competition or anything, just try to feel at home.

If you have any questions, you can always ask the community for some assistance. :)

This does include the 65k character limit.

The Fediverse consists of many servers (including Mastodon servers) which are connected to each other by talking a certain protocol (language) with each other. That way we get to send each other messages (just like email, basically, also all various servers like gmail, outlook, etc).

So, our server (Qoto) has a lot of connections with a lot of servers. A server with a huge blocklist might not have many connections at all, and thus sees less messages from other servers out there.

@lourens How come you feel FOMO? What's the issue you're having?

@lourens It is broken at the moment, but we're having a server upgrade soon which'll fix it.

@karlequin Hi, welcome to Qoto!

Don't worry, take your time. Get settled in nicely and go with the flow. :)
