I suspect the clause “as identified by Meta’s Third-Party Fact-Checking Program” is responsible for some meaningful bias here. Still, interesting and probably true.

I believe that "capitalism and technological progress are generally positive" and "we should probably live without certain luxury goods if they're not sustainable" at the same time and I feel very few people express these sentiments together.

TIL there was no single burning of the historic Great Library of Alexandria. The “single burning” story is just myth.
Instead, the Library of Alexandria was slowly defunded and its librarians, intellectuals purged from Alexandria. Over generations its prominence and scholarship slowly faded away, and the collection was likely slowly lost to corruption, war, plunder, dilapidation, or dispersed across other private and public collections.

#Actors resisting studios that want to scan their bodies for one day and then use that data as input for #AI engines for the whole scene/film/series/show, or even forever, are resisting History. It's only logical and efficient that fewer and fewer humans are needed for those kinds of jobs. Welcome aboard.
They should simply negotiate their conditions wisely, as everyone else tries to do all the time. And be mindful of the actual value they bring to a production in an AI era: nobody can replace #BradPitt on a film, and so he will be paid accordingly for his scan. But supporting actors and extras? Even people with no acting training or experience will be able to pose for a scan and display a decent range of expressions and movements. It's clear that most of those jobs will be gone.
