What we don't teach is how science functions as a social institution that allows tens or hundreds of thousands of individuals to work together collectively to undercover the workings of the physical universe. Everything we teach about the process of science involves that which one can do alone at night in an empty laboratory.

The result = pretty good!

Has my role as a writer been reduced to fact-checking, performing a Grammarly check, and adding a little flavour to the text?

Seriously questioning what the future of writing looks like at this point.

Also, reflecting on the equity of these tools in higher education. There is a fee involved in using the tools. It's not that high, but it means that students with $$$ are once again at an advantage.

Will HE providers of the future purchase enterprise subscriptions to level the playing field so that all students have access?

So many questions!!!

As a beginning coder using #ChatGPT for help, I can see the draw for beginning writers.

It's also next to impossible it is for me to critically evaluate what it gives me. At times its code doesn't work.

Writing assignments don't generate error messages.

Teaching students to be skeptical of AI outputs has its limits.

We all know what happened to the Mendeley employees who stayed on after they were bought by Elsevier and hoped they could change the giant from within.

It is not difficult to imagine how Elsevier feels about this latest acquisition.

“Huawei accounts for 59% of Germany's 5G RAN - the base stations and related infrastructure that connect smartphones to the network - compared to 57% in 4G networks, according to the survey”
