#introduction

Hello I am Matt, I joined mastodon a few times and recently lost my account on librem.one due to some technical issues and a misunderstanding. Anyway here I am starting over again, I had considered running my own instance but #qoto seemed to hold similar values so here I am.

I love the outdoors and computing. Philisophically I think personal #freedom is the ultimate persuit of expression and hapiness, while engaging with other free individuals we create a understanding society. The only way to have a #free and respectful #society is to respect others freedoms.

This love of freedom like #freespeech is also important in computing. #freesoftware should be a bigger topic in the mainstream, even if someone is not technically compotent, it should be easy to understand that the blueprints to the software that run our dams, electrical, city halls, science, communication etc, etc.. is very important.

My hope is to share various passions of mine here on qoto and find new friends in the fediverse. Eventually see all the people I love on fediverse. This is more ethical platform for social connectedness and more natural like the p2p nature of in person communicatrion.

Here are a list of some of my interests in hash tags:

#philosphy #good #linux #GNU #freesoftware #debian #devuan #guix #sharing #caring #love #swim #swimming #hike #hiking #camping #kayak #kayaking #polotics #lbry #odysee #Kelowna #Canada #family #nature #environment #UBC #TheUniversityOfBritishColumbia #outdoors #debate #truth #investigation #journalism #scifi #art #librem5 #librem #purism #efoundation

I'll attempt to repost this and add tags as time goes on.

@admin That is right messed up!

@SpokespersonCHN its not prejudice to want a investigation into a possible candidate for the origin of the virus is it? it is prejudice to make up your mind before the evidence is really investigated, its criminal to engage in the slowing of a investigation to such a imporant matter. Polotics and media have been making assumptions and obfuscating information this is the only problem...

@ybaumy @qorg11

I can relate to that sentiment.. its refreshing to know there are others.

Yes, lets often dream of a free society.

take care!

I have not yet met him.. I do not usually do bucket lists but its one thing I want to do before he leaves us.

I think when the whole covid bit is not restricting us at all and peoples freedoms I will goto libre planet with that goal in mind.

thats a really powerful statement. fantastic.. He really helps people realize freedom in all our imperfection.

@ybaumy @qorg11

over 20 years ago I wrote RMS a letter while I was drunk and stoned on weed.. I had some epiphany to save the world with some long winded(and forgotten) idea, in the end I put out one line asking him if I had an idea that could save the world would he help me promote it.. he answered "yes"
I forgot the idea when I woke up :D

@ybaumy @qorg11

He is certainly a really interesting fellow. I really admire him and all his faults.

Thanks for Freesoftware Dr RMS.

Can we can add that to the freedoms people know, love, and protect in societal documents.

your response made me super duper happy today :D

@ybaumy @qorg11

Gotta love the guy and his pure pragmatism... a accurate reply would be people adore you and other things and mash it all together.

I lost my old mastadon account on librem.one... It was over some techincal hoo haa and poor communication... Still I love puri.sm's goals even though that transaction was a bit of a fail.
