So the fsf clearly want people to use free software but it is not always possible, e,g laptops may need closed firmware for the wifi hardware.
Question is how best to introduce free software to people and help the transition.
Feel free to drop in to next weeks chat, notes from yesterday (Thursday) are going to be typed up by the fsf campaigns team.

@wim_v12e We were discussing at a free software foundation meeting if re-using older computers and installing linux to give computer extended life is better for the environment. I know newer computers are more energy efficient would be good to perhaps get your input on this

I wrote an article about the need for low-carbon and #sustainable #computing and the path towards zero-carbon computing.
In short, we need to dramatically limit the growth in emissions from computing, or by 2040 emissions from computing alone will be close to half the emissions level acceptable to keep global warming below 2°C.
And it is possible to do this.

@calcifer I tried to share3 files via disroot file share tool, I had no proble using it my end, the other end there was apparently issues
result I had to send sensitive scans of files via e-mail
Maybe it is not always the tools at fault but peoples inability to use them or use tools they are not used to.
with lufti you just download the files from an encrypted cloud share.
