Yeah, hence we should give people the power to decide for themselves what is good information.
Not saying you don't ever need drugs to cure or treat someone, but many fruits / vegetables contain anti oxidants and other useful molecules that can really help fight cancer and complement some drugs / medication.
@fsf And here is me thinking you all use GNU / Emacs :)
I may just have created a monster... explained to my almost-teenage boy how port forwarding via SSH works...and told him that for most legitimate purposes it elegantly replaces the need for VPNs (kids only use the dodgy 'free' ones meaning they're lining themselves up for exploitation). People in the Windows world don't understand that VPNs are hitting a brass tack with an expensive and performance sapping sledgehammer. They accommodate the unnecessary complexity of Windows network architecture.
@CodedBias@twitter.com “We are living in a world where for too long the knowledge about AI has been in the hands of the few so all of the power has been in the hands of the few” says Shalini Kantayya, Director of ‘Coded Bias’
@thor it is just a way to cash in further on Mario. Look at the Doom movie , to me it was rather rubbish, despite having Dwane "the rock" Johnson as the main star.
Games don't always translate to movies.
Or they can do, but to hollywoodise a game you lose something along the way usually.
I do that too, share things on my blog that I have seen here that I feel are a good item to share, e.,g the free software camp event.
@echo_pbreyer Comversations are always a good thing, we may not agree with the end findings but we can look at what is being said, submit arguments and either change the end conclusions or change our own views based on multiple viewpoints.
I guess it is also why peer review is so important in science. / research of any kind, checks and balances are a good thing.
@disclosetv Surely it is better to flag something as 'mis information' as that way it can help educate people to differentiate between good and bad information.
We need to teach people how to do this, and yes it is harder work to do that usually as you need to cross reference information with its source and also determine how good that source is.
deleting whole channels just seems rather drastic.
Give me an example of a good / bad piece of text as it helps me write better text / assignments.
@paoloredaelli i thought they were taught basic IT at school surely this should include what business and further education expect people to know.
Files and folders are a core part of the UK level 1 Basic IT skills course.
Hi people of Qoto! Nice to meet you, my name is Evan.
I LOVE the innovations on this Mastodon instance. It is truly inspiring, especially the group service you developed on groups.qoto.org!
I was wondering, I noticed that the domain public.group is around $2000 USD on Namecheap first year only, (a mere 13$/year after that !! !!) .
I personally would be willing to contribute 200 $ to the devs of Qoto to purchase that domain name and host a federated group service on it.
Having @mygroup@public.group as an available asset would be a huge service to the Fediverse! A dream come true!
Would anybody else be willing to contribute funds towards a fundraiser to make this happen?
Please let me know and I can set up a liberapay, get in contact with the owners to make this a reality!
High hopes for the future,
Evan
@mur2501 Where is this so that those who don't like BIG spiders can perhaps avoid. ?
We have the same problem here. We are just not targeting the people smugglers, even when people die or as with 2 years ago freeze to death in the back of a refrigerated lorry. We need to find and prosecute the people who make huge amounts of out of those less fortunate and are desperate to leave, while not giving a damn about their welfare once they have their money.
Oh and may be invest in those countries, so that they don't need to leave, they have good jobs, good pay etc.
At the same time let not allow big tech etc to exploit those people for their personal data, information so they end up assimilated in to making the west richer and the rest of the world poorer.
Time to tax the big companies so that wealth can be more evenly distributed.

Surely we have known that for decades, before we had widespread tv, internet and mobile phones kids ate non processed food, got out more and could walk the streets safely.
You don't hear about kids back in the 30s 40s 50s ,60s 70s and even 80s suffering mental health issues.
@Cardic Yeah but surely it is better watched with a drink and a comfortable sofa, esp as the average game lasts a few hours.
Here's the opening session from last week's LibreOffice Conference 2021! More sessions to come, plus a playlist and PeerTube alternatives... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EreS1tl-WCg
@Cardic Football:)
@hntooter Apparently one person (clearly thick) was filling up plastic bags with petrol.
I am sure if some people had brain cells they would be dangerous.
