@rysiek Yes, that sounds much better :)
UK politics; ministerial resignation
It would be easier for the PM call an election, then once someone else is in power they can sort them selves out.
We really can't carry on like this, it is pathetic and frankly embarrassing to be British at the moment

Hello all❤️ I am so sorry for all the issues on mstdn.social the past days..
Two nights ago over 11K new people joined mstdn.social via invite links while I was asleep and this made the total active people on here to 53K.
The current issue / battle I'm fighting is to keep up with the background jobs for proccessing toots, follows, etc etc.
Please know that I'm doing my best. I've also setup an extra instance to spread the load a little on https://masto.ai ![]()
If you have any influence at a company or connections with high profile figures, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell them the best way for them to join the Fedi is to set up their own server.
At this point anyone with a large following joining an established instance will crush it & incur additional costs on a community funded server.
The EU, German government, and MIT have all joined the Fedi this way.
Introduction
Another introduction post with hashtags this time. I’m a #NZJourno #Journalist at RNZ. I’m part of the In Depth team there and do #DataJournalism & longform journalism. My favourite topics are #Science, #Conservation & the #Environment. Not here to ‘mine for content’ but I found Twitter was an excellent way to connect with scientists and keep up with what they’re publishing. I’ve been doing daily NZ #Covid-19 stats for too long and run the Covid charts page at RNZ.
meta about organisations on the fedi
Also if that instance goes down for maintenance then you are also offline.
Especially if we are seeing a huge surge in new users, people are having to adjust their set ups to try and keep up.
We never did a proper #introduction, did we? 😲

I think this is one of the solutions Education
I dream of being a nurse: how children in Sierra Leone have been given hope through education…

Hope so, no system is perfect, but what makes a system better is to reflect on issues, learn and implement changes to help make it more effective.

Perhaps this decentralised model to moderation (which is sort of what Reddit has) that Mastodon and friends have turns out to be solution.
New job posting: Tricorder Apps (NUX (New User Experience)) Lead Workflow Process Analyst in Navigation Systems Group, at University of Copernicus. #StarTrek #Starfleet
If everyone's doing #introductions - I'm Alex, I'm a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Mental Health at @YorkPsychology in the UK. I am interested in using #cognitive (neuroscience) approaches to understand mental health, particularly #eatingdisorders and #anxiety. I'm very keen on computational modelling and a bit of a methods geek, and I care a lot about the culture of science/labs/academia.
Yesterday forgot to say #Introduction
I have spent a lifetime writing and teaching about #nature and the human spirit.
I've got six nonfiction books behind me, including a national award-winning #biography of #SigurdOlson, a major figure in environmentalism and a beloved nature writer. Now, though, I've turned to #fiction and love it. And now I need an agent....

@michael Sounds like a fun project,

Yes, humans do a better job in many cases, as they can bring in real life experience, but can also on the opposite side, bring in their own prejudice.
Like being a jury member in a court, you have put everything to one side and focus on the case being tried.

Royal Society of Chemistry report says racism 'pervasive'

I did think about this, if you use
I am a BLACK chemist how does this compare to saying I am CHEMIST who is black.
just swapping words around puts your profession first.
I am not in to psychology so not sure if my thinking is correct there, hence good to talk and suggest ideas.
I think doctors have had a problem here in the UK with people just 'assuming' they are a nurse or other health care professional, simply by skin colour.

Not to mention the mental heath effects on these moderators as they seem to be exposed to some very nasty content.
