Building a Sinclair ZX81 in 2022 with all new parts
https://gadgeteer.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/new-zx-featured-400x225.jpg Some take the emulation route, but others demand a solution that’s closer to the original hardware. Following the latter path, [iNimbleSloth] is answering the question as to whether it’s possible to build a Sinclair ZX81 […]

#FreeRadical blog: "Surviving and thriving through the 2022-11-05 meltdown"
Background After Elon Musk bought Twitter and started making a bizarre series of decisions about how to run it, people started logging into Mastodon to see what it’s all about. Lots of them. So, so many of them. In real numbers, Free Radical grew by 20% in the last week. Which is awesome, [...]

CircuiTikz package

Try doing all this in Word, I would rather jump off a cliff, than struggle
I need to get my head round Tikz, but at least we know it does the job really well.
Good point, I have JabRef but not tex studio installed, so should do that.
I have upgraded my account so should be able to push to github.
I don't do much that is mission critical, just personal documents, my CV etc.
As part of the Labs programme, I want to suggest they include gitlab integration, so we can link to other instances, partly as I maintaining a Debian presentation, so for the Debian people GitHub is depreciated over salsa.gitlab
@derickflorian TexLive is worth downloading for the package manuals.
@zleap I love their guides. I starting using #LaTeX on my Calc tests in the online course. I’m currently reading through their LaTex in 30 min guide now. Hopefully this video can teach me about the platform itself!

The Fediverse has its own video platform called @peertube.
You can follow PeerTube accounts from Mastodon, for example try following craftykat@diode.zone
You can watch and interact with the videos entirely within Mastodon, or on PeerTube itself.
Here's an example of a PeerTube server:
If you see an account you like, you can copy and paste its account address into Mastodon to follow it there. When new videos are published, they will appear in your Mastodon timeline.
@derickflorian We have a chem student at the STEM group, going to try and introduce her to \LaTeX\ as it makes typesetting chemistry and documents so much easier.
For anyone interested , here is an introduction to Overleaf, the online, collaborative \LaTeX\ editor.
@jameschip +1 to this, well done, and thank you to everyone. Keep up the good work.
Indeed, and moderation is about using our own judgement to report problem content, rather than trying to rely on an AI to do it.
We report because we CARE not because it is our job to do so. I think that also makes a difference.
It just occurred to me that across the 4,000 #Mastodon servers each with their #MastoAdmin plus their moderator teams... we have more content moderators tracking reports and complaints than Twitter does.
For the folks who keep asking about how we're going to scale, we're on it.
This is our first post on Mastodon ✨

hey guys from Twitter.
we are glad to see you here but please understand that the fact that fediverse is anti-viral, anti-hierarchy and anti-capitalist is the point of it
please also understand that CWs, alt text and other stuff here is not there to "silence you" — it is to allow users greater agency over their feeds for their mental benefit, and to support disabled people.
this network was built by marginalized people. who disliked Twitter for the same reasons you do.
don't bring it back.
