@WayneCollins Shows how a poor public transit system can really have a detrimental effect on people not just students but also staff at the school / colleges too.

Agreed, I am capable of blocking unwanted content or people that post unwanted or potentially offensive content,

These are instructions how you can block content you might not want to see. Welcome to the fedirvese where people can make up their own minds. I personally as a traditional liberal (not the new corporate oxymoron form) like to see everything except spam and make up my own mind.
A question has come up amongst our ECR group about overheads for Early Career Researchers (either in fellowships or starter grants).
Does anybody know of any UK Universities that reduces overhead costs ECR's that have been awarded starter grants or fellowships. Do you know of this working well to increase affordability, length of fellowships or chance of future success?
@garyackerman Not sure on what to use, nut am boosting to see if anyone else can help.
We are initiating a project to create a digital collection of the rocks, minerals, and fossils, in our community college's collection. We are thinking a searchable database (mobile compatible) that will display images of what we have.
Anyone willing to share recommendations on platforms?
We have capacity to self-host, prefer open source.
@favus This is really not good, keep safe until the boiler gets fixed, are any community warm places open during the day so you can at least go out and get warmed up.
@TBbrigden This is excellent, thank you, giving examples and also explaining what is wrong is really helpful as is having a 'good' example and an explanation of why this is a good example makes things really clear as to your message.
This is a great article from #lancetGlobalHealth on images used by Global Health organisations. I was lucky enough to have worked with comms teams who were really strict on what images where used and to maintain dignity and not propagate sterotypes of "poor Africans" and "white saviours". https://bit.ly/3j10uIl
@WayneCollins
Are there no buses to the college then ?

Some of these Big Tech Execs seem to act more like children in that they don't (or want to ) take responsibility for their actions.
Actual children are not usually expected to, they are generally taught to, Some of these execs need to grow up and take responsibility for their and what goes on on the tech they create.

Facts should be backed by evidence to form an argument, so in terms of science it would perhaps make you poor at science or at the very least ineffective,
However inexperience can perhaps cause this too. We learn from others hopefully for the better.

Peer review is central to science, but current peer review culture has fundamental problems.
In this review, we provide a critical analysis of these cultural issues and argue for a different way forward
Excited to share this work by the Reviewer Zero team!
@mariam Agreed, and this is really important there is a nice guide at https://senseaboutscience.org/activities/peer-review-the-nuts-and-bolts/ on the process around peer review..
