Turns out, Hot Jupiters have low geometric albedo of only 10%. The reason is sodium absorption in the planetary atmosphere. However, 10% is not negligible. One example: Kelt-1 b
This sort of thing is disgusting really, esp in 2023. Lets expose more of this capitalist exploitation.

When a planet reflects light from a star, this can be seen in an optical light curve as a phase dependent variation in total light coming from the system. We can observe different "phases" of the planet, and the amplitude of this variation tell us about the albedo of the planet.

Republican leaders love quoting MLK about being judged only by the content of their character without stopping to think how that might actually go for them.
For politicians it seems to be when it comes to important issues.

@zleap possibly! For Earth-like northern light, GJ 436 b would need a magnetic field, and we don't know if it has one. If not, something vaguely like aurora can still happen if a magnetic field is induced from currents in the planetary atmosphere.

In the GJ 436 system, which hosts a Neptune sized planet, galactic cosmic rays are dominated by stellar cosmic rays, because the planet lies relatively close in to the star (0.2 AU). The stellar cosmic rays lead to high ionization in the atmosphere.
Is there a Atemis II info graphic to go along side the Atemis III one you posted a while back please ?

Indeed, hopefully as fedi understands the issues elsewhere, what happens here will be different.

@smallcircles @deadsuperhero @atomicpoet @b3n @timbray - and back on topic, it could also give brands a place to push things without being too intrusive - with the lack of an algorithm or purchase of ad space - brands will need to provide value to get followed. (not a bad idea, but will take time for the adaption)
