Just a heads up for interested North Island peeps, weather permitting the RNZAF will be flying a 3-ship Orion formation around the island tomorrow (24 Jan) to mark the formal retirement of the type at the end of this month, after 64 years of service (and several upgrades). I've put the times given by the RNZAF in the image alt text. A South Island flyover is planned for the 31st.

Another grab at Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) from early yesterday morning. As suspected, longer exposurez reveal more tail data.

If it weren't for lawyers being arbitrarily involved in things they shouldn't be, there's an excellent chance that we'd all be running BSD and Microsoft wouldn't have been nearly so dominant without BSD being legally sidelined in the early 90's, which gave Linux a very timely foothold, despite having to quickly reverse engineer a whole lot of what BSD long already had.
