I was planning to procrastinate today but never got around to it

Because police don't solve crimes the way that TV shows pretend they do. Most serious crimes, especially murders, are solved by:

1) someone calls the cops (caller)
2) someone tells the cops exactly what happened (witness)
3) cops gather enough evidence to show that the witness's story is credible
4) DA builds a case

Without callers or witnesses, it's almost impossible to even know who committed a murder, let alone get a conviction in court. And Black folk don't call or play witness.

I dunno, maybe social media is just a bad indicator of real public opinion

If this child was strong enough to survive colonization, land theft and reservation internment — then white kids should be strong enough to learn about it in school. #nativeamerican #NativeNations

Police are worse than useless. They are actively harmful. We just had a medical emergency with one of our encampment residents. She was flat on the ground, stuporous, with severe decerebrate posturing and breathing normally.

The cops radioed it in as an overdose (which means EMS will take forever to respond), even though there were no signs of OD. To make things worse, the 911 dispatcher confirmed to me that the cops had given them the complete wrong address in their call.

Even worse, I was the only one on scene carrying Naloxone. The cops made everything worse and were not even prepared for an overdose. The cops asked me several times if I could administer Narcan; I had to correct them repeatedly and tell them there were no overdose symptoms and that the woman had a recent history of aneurysm. They stood their and did nothing, and were afraid to even touch her.

NEVER assume that police have made a proper emergency call. Always call 911 yourself. Carry Narcan.

Microsoft’s post-layoffs Halo studio is smaller and switching to Unreal Engine

/ A new game codenamed Tatanka will use Unreal Engine instead of the previous in-house Slipspace engine used for Halo Infinite, according to a new Bloomberg report.

Hey website and mobile app designers, how about letting me type the damn time in, instead of requiring me to use weird-ass, nigh-unusable wheel or slider interfaces you insist on coming up with?

Seriously, stop trying to be smart. Give me a text box where I can type four digits and a damn colon.
