Jay Kuo responded,

“I get it. This is all very exhausting and stressful, and we’d all rather be enjoying our lives and not spend our free time worrying about what far-right extremists are planning.

But history teaches that fascism succeeds not because a majority of people are extremists, but because they are willing to look away, to trade away rights and liberties for material comforts, so long as what’s happening to others doesn’t affect them.”

“De-extinction” is not exactly what it sounds like. Rather than “bringing back” lost species, it’s more like creating high-tech lookalikes. And those creatures wouldn’t have their ancestors to teach them how to live. And would de-extinction efforts make humans less likely to worry about species going extinct? It’s a mess of ethical issues. If you don’t want people saying your words and actions are reminiscent of 1930’s Germany, don’t speak or act in ways that are reminiscent of 1930’s Germany.

Tim Berners-Lee proposed a hypertext system that would sit atop the internet #OTD in 1989, and now we all live in it.

Happy 34th birthday to [sweeps arm in a grand gesture, revealing this Hieronymus Bosch tableau of the damned all around us] the Web.

The Superbowl this year offered a free stream with ads, no cable login or free trial shenanigans needed.

Why exactly can't the Oscars do this?

Seems like an easy way to increase younger viewership, still makes money through ads and stop the endless "viewership is down, we need to reinvent the format" think pieces, no?

We Must Abolish Nuclear Weapons Before They Abolish Us https://truthout.org/articles/we-must-abolish-nuclear-weapons-before-they-abolish-us/

@Bernard Thanks for your comment. The working class cannot end the war in Ukraine, or any war, without opposing its root cause, which is capitalism. Appeals to any capitalist party will be useless. A movement against the war in Ukraine must consciously reject such an orientation. There is an urgent need to clarify these political issues for the working class.
