Thanks, I see what people come back with
Is there a way to reuse a previously uploaded image on here. ? I uploaded a Torbay Trojans logo, if I want to re-use i need a link to where it is stored I guess.
Sounds good to me, lets keep refusing to be exploited and fight back, be it social media companies, big tech, employers or anyone stupid enough to treat people in such an inhumane manner.
A VERY ACTIVE SUNSPOT: A new hyperactive #sunspot is producing M-class #solarflares every few hours. This is causing #shortwave #radio blackouts around all longitudes of our planet. If current trends continue, an X-flare could be in the offing. https://spaceweather.com/ has the latest.

Same here., this is why I like fedi.
'Latin America is taking on a pioneering role in this. In Latin America, scientific outputs are considered a public good. Free-to-publish and free-to-read cooperative publishing is supported by non-commercial and publicly funded infrastructure. Ninety-five per cent of Latin American journals are diamond open access: community-driven and collaborative platforms with no article processing charges. Their example shows us that research is a more global and diverse enterprise than is typically acknowledged. By including diverse voices, they contribute substantially to the academic landscape and the accessibility and dissemination of research3. Unfortunately, these journals tend to be excluded by indexing systems, which causes science published outside of the Global North to not receive the attention that it deserves.'
its difficult for protestors (or anyone) to train to be engineers to work at the DNO (distribution network operators, smaller solar schemes feed in at this network) or National Grid when few of them are hiring at entry level (just had a look at vacancies and they are clearly either hoping to poach staff from other companies with experience, or these are planned to be filled internally but only advertised externally because of some HR policy..)
to further develop renewable energy (and affordable, reliable EV charging schemes) is going to require funding outside the "free market" chasing after short term profits - at the moment its stalling as everyone's arguing over who will pay for it...
That sounds about right, companies can't be bothered to develop the workforce of the future but are happy to whinge they can't get the right skills.
How the hell is this allowed to even happen in 2023. someone somewhere is not auditing this software properly to a) get it past the developer stage or at word press to approve these plug-ins, totally lazy on all counts.
I don't think some of the what people such as Just Stop Oil are doing is helpful either, this is mroe than just about pil,. as it is about whole eco systems being destroyed. What is less helpful for their argument is when the press do some digging and it transpires that people near the top of these protest groups are linked to oil in some way or in the case of insulate Britain, the head of that group does not even have insulation.
I just also wonder how they get around the country, electric cars, bikes, walk or do they take electric / hydrogen public transport OR shock horror they have to use diesel powered public transport to get to their protest sites, such as Wimbledon, horse racing or other big evnts.
Meanwhile the green energy firms are installing more solar panels / wind farms. but here in teh Uk there is such poor infrastructure from the national grid they apparently can't connect them. Perhaps these protest groups should stay local, train to be engineers and work to fix the local infrastructures.
These regulators are a waste of space, they can't even stop water companues dumping sewage in to rivers, decades of under investment is usually blamed, well whos fault is privatisatiob where useless greedy shareholders earn huge profits and produce nothing.
We need to follow what happened with Bankers in iceland, prosecute the directors.
Farmers will probably argue that if a water company with millions in the bank can get away with it, why should they take more care, not the right attitude BUT they would be making a fair point.
Loophole lets farmers pollute UK rivers with excess manure
There are still people who don't get this is happehing now and wll get worse WITHIN our lifetime. I am not sure where they get their science from but talking to someone yesterday they seem to think this is some kind of joke that will just end at some point.
I really can't be bothered with people like this as it is like taking to a brick wall
Any suggestions on how we can actually have rational, science based discussions around this with people who think it is just a passing thing that will go away.
