With regard to carbon capture, does this actually solve the wide issue of greenhouse emissions. I was under the impression that CO_2 is the MAIN greenhouse gas, however there are other gasses that contribute to the greenhouse effect.

So by removing CO_2 we solve part of the issue, only for cars, that are pumping out CO_2 they are also pumping out other gasses such as Oxides of Nitrogren and Sulful as well as carciogens such as Benzine, as well as particulates that are also dangerous to human health.

So how much does carbon capture actually solve the problem, when we just need to reduce these emissions, and plant more trees.

Or am i missing some important point here. ?

There are a good few people on here interested in and so will boost so hopefully you can connect to people.

I have closed Twitter and deleted the app from my phone. Now I need recommendations on who to follow here. I am interested in #climate, #energy, #airquality, #sustainabledevelopment

@ProjectFearlessness

The mind boggles, we seem to be able to produce enough electricity with renewable energy, we need to invest more, cut back of fossil and make serious changes and say TOUGH to those who object.

Some may have good grounds to object in which case those people need to be helped to transition and not left behind.

The U.K. PM Rishi Sunak has just announced licenses for 100 new gas and oil mining sites in the North Sea.

It's shocking news, but 100 new licenses are not the same as 100 new mines. It's a decision that can and will be overturned.

This is unacceptable. We don't have to accept this.

It tells me that Americans are incapable of critical thinking, are too lazy to dig deeper in to issues and vote first think at some point in the future.

Also says a lot about the education system if it is producing people out of school who just follow everyone else.

Here is a surreal video from NASA of Juno's flyby of Io and Jupiter on May 15 during PJ 51, when it came within 35,000 km of Io's surface.

At least three groups — "Fridays for Future", "Fight Fossil Fuels", and "End Fossil Fuels USA" — are joining together to organize mass climate protests and strikes in September.

Here is part of their message...
__________________________

Our world is in crisis. Extreme weather caused by the climate emergency is wreaking havoc in our communities and ecosystems across the globe, causing social insecurity and harm to people.

The biggest cause of this crisis is fossil fuels — coal, oil, and gas.

The fossil fuel industry is driving a predatory and destructive economic system that harms people and the planet, fuelling climate break down.

Fossil fuels are bad for the climate, for ecosystems, for our people, for our health, for our democracies and for our economies.

The science is clear: what the world needs now is a rapid and just transition to an energy and economic system that is efficient, fair, and universal. A system based on clean energy sources, and produced with respect for nature and the sovereign rights of Indigenous peoples.

This September, as world leaders discuss climate action at the United Nations in New York, people on every continent will join the largest-ever globally coordinated action and together WE WILL end fossil fuels.

The climate crisis is escalating but so is the global movement for climate justice. We need all hands on deck to win this fight.

Another difficult one, Not a second time from With the Beatles. You could do with sone sort of regular expression thing.

1. Select random line from a song
2. Check said line does not match a song title
3. If 2 is true go to 1
4. Eles print line to mastodon

No idea how to do that, probably some sort of clever grep fu.

Iain Duncan Smith invited on #SkyNews to discuss UK's oil and gas reliance decides to talk about China.

I am still looking at getting a new laptop, more concerned as to if I can replace the default windows 11 OS with Debian or similar.

It seems that not only do we have windows as default, but some computer manufacturers install Alexa by default.

Are people creating a demand for this, or is this another attempt to lock people in so people feel that they 'need' these tools and can't operate without them,

Build more roads? Get more car traffic
Build more light rail? Get more light rail passengers (fewer personal vehicles)
Build more safe cycling infrastructure? Get more cyclists (fewer personal vehicles)
Make other public transport more convenient, cheaper and accessible? Get more people using it!

It’s not fucking brain surgery
