According to a new study, atmospheric oxygen could be the key factor for the emergence and development of technological civilizations. The study shows that fire, which is essential for many technological advances, is only possible in an atmosphere with a high oxygen content and that such atmospheres are rare in the universe. This could mean that planets where fire is possible, and thus civilizations that use fire, could be scarce and precious. #oxygen #fire #civilization https://phys.org/news/2023-08-technological-civilizations-atmospheric-oxygen.html
The whole barge was meant to be checked out before letting anyone on board, surely this is a basic check on the water system that should be carried out as a matter of course and due dilligence.
The sooner we get a General Election the better, we may than get a competent governmet in power who will STOP THE BOATS by actually going after the people traffickers, in addition actually also set up offices so asylum claims can be processed for a price that undercuts that of traffickers, putting the traffikers out of business with any luck.
The above is hardly complex, perhaps there is something about highly qualified experts that justifies the definition of expert.

Legionella is a big problem…
It causes a type of pneumonia that doesn’t respond to first line antibiotics and carries a mortality of 10%
Tell me again how this isn’t a criminal level of negligence from Braverman?

A great blue heron braving the turbulent waters coming out of the spillway at the Falls Lake Dam/Tailrace in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
They were releasing a quite bit of water via the spillway. It didn't stop this great blue heron from landing in the river to begin his morning hunt for fish. I really love the waves here as it gives a more dramatic look.

Pilots, please check out Elevated Access.
They help get people who need abortion or gender-affirming care in areas where care is illegal or impossible to get. Elevated Access connects them with volunteer pilots to get them to the care they need.

USA tax codes treat DONATED LABOR as of absolutely ZERO VALUE. if it had value, we'd have UBI & UHC.
so: a painter who donates a painting to charity, cannot deduct the estimated value of their work based on sales. they can only deduct the paint & canvas.
now if a millionaire buys the painting & donates it? they get the deduction.
FLOSS needs to institute an IN-KIND LABOR valuation of all unpaid work, not just dev work. it would radically change the convo about LABOR

[01/02] The judge in the insurrectionist's trial, for trying to use fraud and force to overturn the 2020 election, gave him release conditions which included not threatening witnesses. Since then, he has threatened witnesses several times: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/aug/07/will-donald-trump-be-jailed-before-trial
Robert Reich says, and I agree, that he should be jailed now for this.

@NanoBookReview @asbestos @QasimRashid
I appreciate that but while they are useful or essential in specific situations are they needed in large cities? I am sure most animals don't attack people they are defending their patch, or perhaps their young from danger.
I have watched some of the programs where people build houses in Alaska. So from that viewpoint I get why people need them.
No problem, I have a few postrs in drafts, so tomorrow I will work on getting stuff written up and then scheduled .
WriteFreely is really nice for things like this, simple but great for also republishing stuff,
