I think if implemented properly they are perhaps a good idea, but stopping emergency vehicles from getting to places just seems irresponsible..

People need to be responsible, mind you that needs to come from the top and we have a bunch of idiots running the country, brainless morons running departments and a system creaking at the seems.

Schools starting to go back, and some are being told to close because of a problem the government knew about back in 2018. Not only that, measures are only now being put in place as we are only just finding out about this. They could have put these measures in six weeks ago at the start of the summer holiday.

The ONLY way to solve this to call a general strike, country wide, granted we need to ensure essential services stay running, however they only need to make one demand GENERAL ELECTION NOW.

If everyone downed tools and joined in, I think within a week we would get the dissolving of parliament and a general election called.

We really can't carry on like this.

Given how bad the media coverage is of fedi, saying it is hard to use, hard to sign up to, perhaps those of us who are here, are the best people to advocate the fediverse.

It used to be like this, back in the 80s we could walk to the local row of shops, there was everything from a newsagent, butchers, fruit / veg shops, banks, mini supermarket etc all within easy reach, iirc the parking was also free.

I am not sure what the AI player on C&C red alert was upto last night. I was playing 1v1 against the computer, so started off with the usual base set up and unit creation, I changed the settigs to have about 50 units, so need to move them out the way to deploy the MCV.

Early on the computer attacked me, I did repel this, but the cost was quite high, so I had to start rebuiling tanks etc.

Anyway I built a nice minefield, then started exploring, upon arriving at what should be the enemy base, all i find is an undeployed mcv, surronded by about 5 units.

I could have just moved in for the kill, but decided to just attack the units around the MCV, sure enough this gave the computer the space needed to move and deploy the mcv and start building it's base.

Quite interesting to watch, but this has never happened before, so right now I actually have a game to play as it has built up a decent base and unit count.l

The UK is planning 15 minute cities. The idea is that all the services needed are within 15 minutes of where you live. This is a good idea. However as usual the conspiracy theorists have jumped on this to spread misinformation and the idea of a government hidden agenda.

Doing a search on yourself can reveal publically available information, e.g profiles etc that you can prevent by logging in and changing privacy settings.

We can do that on fedi too, control who can see posts etc.

But use google as others will use that, and they are the bigger data collector, but also use your regular search tools.
