@freemo — the existence and allowance of billionaires fall hand in hand with homelessness and hunger.

I’ve had the new Beatles song in my head today. Despite the new trove of live Dire Straits tracks released yesterday.

This is heartless. Instead of doing what's needed to help rough sleepers Suella Braverman wants to crack down on the tents they take shelter in - and punish the charities that give those tents out. This can't be allowed to happen. Add your name today: https://act.38degrees.org.uk/act/homelessness-tents-petition?submit=true

I like some PC games so I've always run Windows on my home PC. I run Linux on everything else, and have for decades. So after one too many Microsoft annoyances I went dual boot to give the #Linux desktop a real shot. I was ready for QEMU/KVM, PCI pass through GPU blah blah. No. What happened instead is I installed Lutris and Steam, installed my current game per the online instructions, and it ran better than Windows. With no tweaks. Wow. I knew I could do everything else on Linux, so this is looking promising. Fingers crossed.

Look at this beauty that my wife found near the dumpster. What kind of society throws things like this away? Anyway, it's testing night!

The X-10 graphite reactor at Oak Ridge went critical # OTD in 1943.

Built as part of the Manhattan Project, it was the second artificial nuclear reactor (after Fermi's Chicago Pile 1) and the first to operate continuously.

The High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR), completed in 1965, is just down the road from the X-10 site. If you like well-designed control panels from the 1960s, please enjoy this beauty.

A true 👨‍🍳🤌💋 of a control panel.
