@thor Yeah I think our PM fails to grasp that as he wants us to be a high skileld high waged country, fine but you still need people to do those other jobs.
It depends on what you mean by high skilled, would the average programmer be able to wire up a building to power the computers, but at the same time, you still need a cleaner to go round and clean the building, busy areas toilets, those people can work very quick and efficiently so in a way they are highly skilled at their jobs.
Sometimes I feel that I am percieved as over qualified or either that I scare the hell out of people as I have now undertaken courses on equality, anti harassment,and bullying sexual harassment so I can recognised and know what to do in those situations.
If one was to try to get in to a toxic work environment with that lot it would not only get picked up on quickly but the boss is held to account.
Have done disciplinary procedures too. I have personally vowed the next person to say men should not be working with kids (or something similar) will be in very serious trouble if they can't explain their reasoning.
Equality goes both ways.
Yeah I can understand this.
Maybe we should stop trying and just invite people along, in small steps we can provide support then.
Ensure people feel welcome when they join, warn them it is not perfect here and there are posts that may cause offence but that can be dealt with with blocks / mutes / timed mutes etc.
@thor Kinda like an employer where you have certain skills that are hard to get hold of, if they mess you around you can leave and leave them in the shit, and it would be THEIR fault for not treating you properly. This is more important than being paid lots of money . A good work environment is important for lots of things. ;
@thor Yeah but we are building someting better here.
I found a flyter for an after school music session club thing. I contacted them and mentioned fedi seems interested so also given them the web address for funkwhale
Only 2 mastodon instances for Music neither are native English but that is not that important and can be fixed in due course by music fans.
We are hackers surely we can make a virtual state where instead of using port 80/443 we use a different port number and hard wire a browser / client to get in.
Kinda like Tor needs the right software.
@thor A country just for techies and hackers would be cool.
@rixty@social.outsourcedmath.com @ScienceAlert
Shows how even here on Earth we can still find new places that have never been seen or explored fully.
How many places are we destroying before even discovering them.
@sjw Ah cool thanks :) This diagram is really useful too.
The Matrix Resurrections
I think this is a 4th sequel rather than a reboot as some of the same actors are in this.
Ghostbusters - Afterlife
"When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind."
Agreed, we need to get this right or people (esp reviewers ) will pick up on the issue,.
he would probably throw up after eating that much :)
@dqn I am guessing you see a xenomorph from alien here too.
Are these the right representation of colours for plugs in a particular country ? Why would people have red / green for what I assume here is live neutral
If anyone is colour blind they apparently can't differentiate
hence in the Uk
Live = Brown
Neutral = Blue
Earth Yellow / green
Clearly trying to put wires in to the socket is a VERY BAD idea anyway and should NEVER be attempted.
@publicvoit I thought he said elderly.
I wonder what people wjho use facebook think to that statement it is important however for anyone who works with young people to be able to reach out and communicate.
As soon as more people join snapchat / tik tok, who are adults those platforms will be uncool and kids will move somewhere else.
I think my local linux user group uses duosec
I take it goolag is something to do with google.
Education is the key here, which is why the @fsfe hacking for freedom and software freedom camp
