@jaywilliams @claudiom as this toot is boosted I'll explain my statement about rust. I have nothing about the language itself. It's just it has been adopted rather quickly in many fields without giving much time for non mainstream OS or architectures to do the porting work (requiring high skills), and this break many platforms because it's essential to have a working rust in 2021. It also requires a lot of memory for compilation and pulls many deps which is unmaintainable.
@jessica@mk.absturztau.be The letter L on my keyboard has completely rubbed off so it is blank key at the moment.
@jessica@mk.absturztau.be Yeah it looks like a small form factor.

Looking forward to representing Small Tech (the exact opposite of Big Tech) and a view of human beings as *people* – not mere “consumers” – at the industry stage of the MediaTech Hub conference on Wednesday (I’ll be taking part virtually).

@thor it is nice to just write ideas down, then if NFTs become more of a thing see if you were right or wrong in your thoughts.
@thor maybe worth writing down your thoughts on the topic .
@aral This is an excellent piece. Thanks for posting.

How do planets like Earth form? One theory predicts that asteroid-like objects called planetesimals bounce and bang into each other until they form a planet. Another posits that torrents of cosmic pebbles coalesce into a rocky surface. https://www.quantamagazine.org/scientists-debate-if-cosmic-pebbles-create-rocky-planets-like-earth-20211103/

In the pre-smartphone era, I hated wearing a watch and always wanted to return to the days of pocket watches.
Well guess what, my wish came true!

so far, my goal of writing an essay per day is working out. they’re a little shorter than i’d like them to be, but i’m writing them.
@thegibson Kinda makes sense, I steal money so buy an NFT which means the money is tied in up in something else, objects or digital objects rather than in a clean bank account.
So question do laws on money laundering cover NFTs or what is happening here ?

NFTs are largely money laundering... that's it... That's all it is.
@dsfgs Ah ok
the issue has been reported to IT supportat least.

To be fair though, NTP (Network Time Protocol) can be fairly easily compromised if its not in the secure form. We remember reading something about it. It would be a bit less precise but we think it should go over a privacy layer like I2P or Tor to limit the ability of performing targetted attacks.
The clock at the hardware level could be starting to fail too, which would not be a Windows issue.
