Interesting how the daily mail seems to be stoking up the opposite
Taliban ban Afghan women from travelling more than 45 miles unless escorted by a male relative and forbids drivers playing music in their vehicles
Why can't the UK Press actually report positive stories from a country ?
@info_activism Shut it down, sack all the workers and don't give them jobs elsewhere, esp in Tech.
@newsbot This makes sense, we are already moving in that direction with medicine, education, health care as we want to move to a more person centred approach.
Taliban bans forced marriage of women in Afghanistan
This sounds like a positive step forward.
‘No need’: Taliban dissolves Afghanistan election commission

Mainstream media in the Uk don't seem to be mentioning this.

@publicvoit I will try and do some digging., This is why I was trying to get people like child net on fed to offer some advice.
@publicvoit @PINE64 Actually thinking about this more there may be a sort of child lock app you can use to limit access to apps.
@publicvoit I am not sure but this sounds like a good feature that @PINE64 could implement on their phones if they have not done so alrady
BBC Radio 4 article on Moomins
Interesting a bot at Microsoft is forking some open source repos and removing the license and copyright information. For example here is cups (the printing system used by both mac and Linux) https://github.com/microsoft/cups/commit/ad69bcc78bdea3fea3f09fe56674daea821bb407 That's actually very illegal.
Usenet 25th December 2006
On usenet, just another normal day.
In quiet corners disputes wend their way
Restrainedly on bondage, loud on dice,
Quixotically on healthcare, droll on ice,
Quite passionately on the way to write
And fast and free on books, all day, all night.
No tinselled turkeys here, no slick false glitz,
Goodwill extends all year, except to twits,
And nobody is here because they must.
The level of debate implies a trust
That words get thoughts across, that talk is good
And “here” exists, (no reason why it should).
When Christmas cheer and smiles are wearing thin
One more unwanted present hits the bin
I think of those I care for, far away
On usenet, just another normal day.

@nemo This is interesting, makes you wonder what else has survived for 1000s or millions of years.
"A perfectly preserved dinosaur egg highlights link to modern birds
Embryonic dinosaur fossils are extremely rare. It is the first time any have shown signs of a distinctive birdlike posture known as “tucking” — with the head under the right arm."
