@cwebber I agree, usedf properly they are a really good ready reference, at one time we either made our own or used page markers.
Probably still do, only this write on marker a reference to the study guide that covers same topic.

Those laminated study guides that most people associate with lazy students? I love them, they're great quick summaries of a discipline to put next to your desk while exploring that discipline when it isn't your main thing.
Plus being laminated means they're great bath reads!

+1 we can avoid the can of worms we are going to open up butting up a single pic of a hollywood logo even if the context is to review the movie.
@humanetech @tommi @bookwyrm @inventaire
Could also be a good way to showcase movies made with free software e.g blender oen movie project and perhaps videos on peertube.

@tommi posed an idea for a #Fediverse #Movie database in #Lemmy
And also on #FediverseTown
https://fediverse.town/t/fediverse-platform-for-movies/344
Candidate existing platforms to build from are @bookwyrm and @inventaire
But why fork, and create separate independent projects? Imho it would be great if there was a generic Fediverse Directory platform, with which you can create collections of any type of item, be they #Books or #Movies or what-have-you.
With plugins for templates + #UI widgets.

How do folks feel about https://spectrumnews.org as far as being respectful and useful coverage of autism research and news?
I think perhaps courses cover quite a lot more than just programming, lots of theory perhaps legal issues.
People seem to be leaving college not employment ready too,

Yeah, I would say it depends to a large degree on the area of study. I definitely wouldn't entrust my health to a doctor who didn't have a degree in medicine, but if we're talking about something like programming, I don't think it makes a difference if you went to college or were self-taught.
