uk politics, covid, petition, please boost

UK citizens and residents, please sign petition.parliament.uk/petitio to get a debate on keeping free Lateral Flow Tests available.

@rysiek@mastodon.technology

Agreed anger (or protest) should be aimed directly at the Kremlin. In particular Putin and his inner circle supporting the war.

#Ukraine war, help effort

. It's only once we see through each other’s eyes that we learn to appreciate the other person's position, often helping us see the commonalities rather than the differences. What I've also learned is that this process is painstaking and difficult; it's much easier to use big words that forego the precious value of human lives.

War is always an easy way out for those who don't personally get affected by it.

It is very unfortunate that we have failed to resolve the underlying issues leading to this war cooperatively and peacefully. As a consequence - yet again - the ordinary people are suffering. That's why I'd like to state that bunq will do its utmost to get as many people to safety as possible - Ukrainians and Russians alike.

#Ukraine war, help effort

If you are affected and all you want to do is live in peace and harmony, please send your details to people@bunq.com and we’ll do everything in our power to get you over to the Netherlands under an HSM visa. If you can provide shelter, harbor people or have any other ideas on how we can help please contact us too.

I sincerely hope this unnecessary tragedy will soon come to an end.

Peace,
Ali

If anything this censorship strengthens the need for vpns, encryption and decentralisation in many cases,

Back in the 70's we had a TV comedy series called Dads Army, aboiut the home guard during WWII

I have modified the theme tune to make it relevant to the current situation Mr Putin seems to replace Mr Hitler really nicely.

During WW1 and WW2 (and may be other wars) songs were good for troop morale, perhaps this will lift the spirits of the Ukraine fighters.

Who do you think you are kidding Mr. Putin,
If you think we're on the run?
We are the boys who will stop your little game.
We are the boys who will make you think again.
'Cause who do you think you are kidding Mr. Putin,
If you think the Ukraine's done?
Mr. Brown goes off to town on the eight twenty-one,
But he comes home each evening and he's ready with his gun.
So who do you think you are kidding Mr. Putin,
If you think the Ukraine's done?

@stux I think the Ukraine need all the help they can' get, surely also learning how to do a DDOS attack , also helps you take steps to defend against it.

@DeveloperMemes

We perhaps need a army like on the film hackers, people who are willing and able to run some code, at a specified time to help with a wider cause, if this was sanctioned by a government, it could really help at times.

We also need an army of people to help shore up cyber defences, properly so, again people with the right expertise to call on and perhaps event to help give basic training / mentoring to others.

@CKsTechnologyNews

Good., we need the EU to promote alternatives, even though they are meant to be impartial.

Google / Microsoft should pass on these costs to customers too

@freemo Not sure, there was talk about this on Fediverse town.

@freemo does the Discourse supporting Activity pub mean that at some point people on fedi can comment on, and make posts on articles threads on to qoto discourse forum ? (and others of course)

#ilovefs because writing open source software helps me to do my best and to learn from others.

I'd like to thank all the companies and institutions that employ people to work on open source because, without them, the software industry would be years behind where it is today.

Instead of making a computer’s processor out of electronic circuits, team of Grade 12 students of American British Academy had decided to make it out of dominoes. The team had planned to execute a 5-bit adder which will be able to add any numbers up to the sum of 63. The previous world record is a 4-bit adder that can only add up numbers up to 31.

@libreoffice I have a blog post linking to this due tomorrow, congrats on the 7.3 release, and looking forward to the related books.

@typomustakes

I am just sharing the poster. I am not sure if the person who wrote this has English as a first language.
