Brief #introduction - I’m a tenure-track scientist at the NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research on Texel researching seawater chemistry, with a focus on the contemporary marine carbon cycle. I do this through a combination of oceanographic expeditions, lab work, theoretical studies and scientific software development (primarily) in Python
@redfrog This would be awesome if that happens.

@silentbaz Hi welcome to Mastodon.
@piggo Autoplay videos are a pain, it is almost like people assume you want their content immediately. Where as I am sure most people don't want their current task or media interrupted. ,

A helpful guided to share with friends considering the #TwitterMigration:
#introduction Hi I'm Baz, I'm a 20 year old trainee carpenter from Powys. I'm a Trojan Skinhead, meaning I am anti-racist, proudly working-class and enjoy music and clothing styles from the late 60s (Ska, Rocksteady, Ealry Reggae etc.). I'm passionate about deplatforming the violent and racist thugs posing as the representatives of our subculture. Beyond that some of my hobbies include cycling, hiking, reading, watching films and getting out on the lash with my mates. 🏴 ⚒️ 🏁 🇯🇲 🥾

@klillington Peoples view of the internet starts when they started to use it. Those who started before 2004 know a world before Facebook for example.
I am one of the migrating birds.
I am a long-time journalist. I created NPR's Planet Money, then was economics writer at The New York Times Magazine and then the New Yorker. I wrote a book, The Passion Economy.
I'm interested in journalism, democracy, the ancient Near East, Cheese (for realz!), and lots of other things.
I live in Vermont with my wife and kid.
