Twitter is now an insecure platform, haemmorhaging security experts. It could haemmorhage your DMs, through leak or sale.
It's no hard guarantee, but your best chance to delete them is with is with #GDPR rights. I've written a blog on how:

As a community lets see what we can do to help. We do seem to be creating a buzz on here, and that should, in time attract people, however big tech has a knack for getting in the way, changing their algorithms to make it harder to promote, so we need to call out this on here, to expose what they are doing

THREAD: Twitter has been vital for state and local journalists like myself.

And I want y'all to understand how much small local, state, nonprofit and independent news outlets stand to lose—and what we all stand to lose—if the Bird App dies. 1/

If you are just joining Mastodon here are a few tips to fully integrate.

Mastodon is best used with some electronic doof doof music on.

Always ask how the weather is in Bruges.

The weirder your haircut the more followers.

Constantly tell people how much you love Tintin and Eurovision.

Knight Rider was merely a side project. The Hoff is more about musical expression.

Keep in mind I am relatively new here, but so far all these steps seem to have helped me greatly.

@dansup @pixelfed

Sounds typical of big tech, ok lets counter if you use @pixelfed lets share a link, and hashtags for the topics you like sharing pictures of.

If we all boost then the exposure here will be good, but more importantly supportive of the cause for decentralisation.

It should be obvious that the #deathcult has destroyed our civilization, like musk is destroying twitter.

"Salvage" some of the better parts of "society" as well, the rusting flotsam to have any hope of a better life the next 20 years.

joinbookwyrm.com/

Also there are 2 spots remaining in the Bookwyrm patreon to pay $40/mo and support the project in a huge way *and* have @tripofmice run a server for you and 50 of your bookwormiest friends: patreon.com/bookwyrm

Yes, we have 30 days, so 29 fron today, I was just signed in from my desktop with username / password.

In one closing statement, I have cited the treatment of employees.

Sometimes you need to take a leaf out of Musk book on things and be Brutal and leave. Why stay on a platform heading for extinction longer than needed?

@zleap Think you have a grace period to reactivate your account. It'll haunt you! The only way now is to dismantle all of your technology so that it can never be recovered- don't forget the phone, two factor security 👀

I’m boldly going where I haven’t gone before, which is right here at this site. Apparently this is a “toot.” I would appreciate a follow!

I wonder if we can get runyourown.social/ to be the next banned url on twitter

@contrapoints

Elon Musk has done a fantastic job with SpaceX, however given what has happened with Twitter and the abysmal treatment of his employees it will be interesting to see how that impacts his overall reputation and the reputation of SpaceX too. If all this backfires on Musk, it could bring him down to the ground with a massive bump,

Another reason for newspapers, profession/trade organizations, and other well-funded institutions to run servers is to share the load in a federated/distributed ecosystem. The burden--work, cost, risk, liability, responsibility--of this federated conversation we're having right now falls mostly on *volunteers.* Newspapers, magazines, unions, and others need to do their share for their constituents benefit. Besides, newspapers should be fostering conversation as mission.

Hello all #admins! I'm rolling out my own instance soon but having struggles since Mastodon implements its own reverse proxy from the same server, resulting in multiple redirects.

My plan is to move the reverse proxy parts from nginx to my own service where I host all other proxies. This is an Apache because yay.

Question is, does anyone else have the same setup and have a conf ready?

So clarify:
[INTERNET] -> [REVERSE PROXY] -> [INTERNAL MASTODON]

hlp plz
