1. History is not there for you to like or dislike.
2. History is there for you to learn from it.
3. History offends you? Even better. Then you are less likely to repeat it.

Read this out loud, then read it again. Then teach it to your children and grandchildren.

America doesn't have a health CARE system. We have a health INSURANCE system. That ain't the same thing.

When anyone walks in the door, our first question isn't "How can we fix you?", it's "How're you gonna pay for this?"

That's barbaric.

Good on you! We need more thinking on science and values.

I was thinking a lot about values while writing my recent analysis for the Project:

Getting right is harder than one would think.

Key takeaways include: that arguments based on our usual criteria of /contribution/ and /accountability/ are brittle; that the problem lies with authorship being a vague term (cf. sorites paradox); that we are using posterior reasoning to justify our intuitions; and that reliable intuitions about the actual nature of the emergent(!) source-AI-author system need more work. A practical policy proposal rounds it off: empower the authors, use meaningful acknowledgements, quantify contributions.

Good point nothing wrong with sharing what is going on, So people are aware (main stream news like the BBC don't seem to report it) can make a choice, esp if we also share the good stuff that is on here too, and share a lot more of that. Shows we have something better here.

@ScotHomestead @josh

If they can do this, so can we, a lot of jobs are down to who you know, hence you keep in touch with old colleagues. The difference is we can be open and transparent about this too, and have no problem with that.

@nasa

NASA is for everyone lets get more people from all background studying STEM so we can explore the universe as a human race, together and achive great things by combining all the unique qualities to achieve what was once seen as the impossible.

Students from Choctaw Nation Head Start and public schools in Oklahoma will get to connect with @NASA_Astronauts Nicole Mann, the first Native American woman in space, during a space-to-Earth call airing live at 10:20am ET on Tuesday, Jan. 31, on NASA TV. go.nasa.gov/3WO8OJI

@ConserveLetters @nickheer @NewYorkTimes

I would contact the office in your state that deals with this stuff they may be able to help, in the meantime lets ALL boost this,

There is a legal obligation to or not to do something, there is also an ethical / moral obligation to do or not to do something, in this case they should really respect what you have asked them to do.

In the meantime lets boost this along with the toot of their article asking "are there too many Asians" in respoonse to the Terrible Monterey shootings.

Sometimes an entities true colours come out without them even realising it,

@nickheer This is rich - this, coming from @NewYorkTimes The New York Times, who when I sent a request to fully delete my account and remove my personal info I got a letter back from their "Data Governance board " basically saying since I don't live in a state which affords me any data privacy rights they simply are refusing to comply -- since (presumably) they are not legally obligated.

Soon enough, anyone refusing to move off the formerly-useful/now erratic fascist communication platform will be considered a willing supporter of it. That time is soon.

I said something similar a few weeks ago, suggesting at some point employers are going to have to reject the CV / Resumes of those on twitter. At the time I was told to hold off on that for a while, which, at the time was a very fair comment.

Fast forward to now and I agree, Can we perhaps share more about WHO is being allowed back on, so this can be shared more widely, at some point people may start to realise that being on twitter is sharing a platform with some VERY nasty people. It just adds evidence to a statement, which I think people here, good journalists, scientists agree evidence is essential.

We don't need explicit details, I have shared just 1 post so far about 1 person who has been allowed back on, we need more, but I would rather also share more posts about positive content, science mostly, but have shared about the Books in education story and updated it with the Dakota idea of expanding this to public libraries.

Within the last few years I came across a service that handled payroll for international remote workers. They were incorporated all over the world and helped US-based companies do pay roll, taxes, etc.

And now I cannot find this company. Any ideas?

"We tried a Christian society run by the rich.... It was called the Dark Ages for a reason."

Why are we heading in this direction again?

Billionaires should not set climate policy.
Billionaires should not set water policy.
Billionaires should not be setting any policy.
Billionaires should not be platformed to give opinion on crises & injustices they helped create & have financial stakes in monopolizing policies on.
Billionaires should not exist.
