@shoq People keep saying this, actions speak louder than words.

I agree, or for NON US military probably tried in the Hague for war crimes, as well as military court in their own country.

Why the police have become a paramilitary force, they need to de-escalate situations, weapons are a last resort.

Maybe what is needed is a Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).” but for the police, change a few words around and it should cover the police too.

Can the president issue an executive order for that. ?

“Police aren’t soldiers. Their job is policing. Their charge is to protect and serve. The American citizen is not an enemy, and if any soldier beat an enemy to death like Tyre Nichols was killed, the soldier would be charged as a war criminal under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).”

There really are good reasons to spend more time here and less at Elon's shitshow.

@rvawonk This appears to be Fox news, being from the UK, I get the impression from people here that fox news is not remotely a decent news channel. This just provides more evidence for that.

RT @EllaRobertaFdn: Ask your MP to sign. The excuses I’ve read; worrying. How can anyone object to Clean Air being a Human Right? Bill is in the Commons now & will become law if majority of MPs want it to. It would be a fitting way to honour Ella Roberta as her 10th anniversary approaches on Feb 15.

Authoritarians silence the arts and use them to distort history. They also attack science by disseminating misinformation and denying evidence.

Artists and scientists are people with basic human rights. It is not surprising to see them fighting for democracy. #Science and #art are political.

Scientists have found that the Earth’s largest rainforest and its so-called third pole are connected by atmospheric currents that carry heat and rain across the planet.

The problem is, that schools have to teach a wide range of subjects, and within that a set of topics, so being able to go in to detail for each is difficult, and actually frustrting for those who are really interested in particular topics. History may be something like 1 hour per week for example.

Unless the school is using topic based curriculum, in which case a wider number of subjects can be taught around the same theme.

This is why books and libraries are so important, access to knowledge is essential, access to a library and a librarian can make a big difference, if you look at slavery, then there are a huge number of books, covering all levels, so getting help to get started is very helpful when you want to start with your current level of knowledge.

I would hope that platforms like Mastodon can do the same, we can ask where to start, recommended reads and get helpful suggestions, engage in conversation.

Earthlike #planets should readily form around other stars, meteorite data suggests.

Samples from space rocks suggest water and light elements are present in warm inner part of planet-forming disks.

For a long time, planetary scientists thought Earth was a lucky accident, enriched with water and lighter volatile elements by asteroids.

But a series of new studies suggests all the ingredients were much closer at hand when Earth was born.
