It seems to me that people below those at the top are weak and too terrified by those at the top to act. Musk is a bully, Putin is a bully and no one has the strength to stand up to him.
If you hate anti-extremism and anti-hate, what does that make you?

As I don’t have the deep pockets that a lot of retro collectors have, I tend to buy stuff that’s broken or in generally bad condition because it’s cheaper - my recent streak though has netted me a bunch of machines in pretty good condition, some even boxed, and (excluding some Rifa caps) have all worked perfectly #RetroComputing
The BBC starting a fedi server is a good step and a pretty big deal. Only using it for BBC staff is the right move. If they should decide to host randoms they should do it from a different domain anyway.
Will be interesting to see how their six month experiment proceeds. How their moderation of replies works and how they'll report or defed other servers as required.
Will Facebook turn on federation before the experiment is over?
Hope it goes well and they continue afterwards and indefinitely. Be nice to them everyone.
Random fun fact: *moss* (that green stuff you see growing on things outside) has photovoltaic properties. It can be used to actually generate electricity.
Here's a nice article about that:

Literal green technology.
I think a few Russian generals should get a WWII history book, and learn about the plot to blow up Hitler, learn from that and devise a plot to blow up Putin.
@zleap That is one of the best things that could happen to the world right now.
So could we have a re-imagined Usenet but one that uses activity pub at the core so items federate,.
I am hoping his generals see sense and take him out before more Russians are conscripted and slaughtered on the battle field.
@zleap Oh he won't accept defeat. At best, he could be convinced to retreat so he can try another day, and even that possibility grows smaller as he knows he's getting old and to the end of his life.
Either he gets ousted/killed at home by his own, dies from illness/old age, is killed by the enemy, or he keeps trying to reclaim and expand territory .

Usenet is still going to some extent, but seems to be full of people posting junk and spam.
IRC is still going
Personal blogs are too, writeAs / WriteFreely is part of the fediverse.
I am all up for this, as long as we don't let big tech be involved.
Good point,
Which is why I get the feeling he may prefer to go out in a blaze of fire, rather than accept defeat. I see him as patriotic to the USSR and irrational.

The war in Ukraine, if NATO supplied arms are used or thought to have been used against Moscow, could that result in Moscow ordering attacks against NATO countries or go through with the threat of using tactical nuclear weapons.
Given Moscow has a tendency to blame Ukraine for everything and the west for other stuff, even if what happens is internal, there is alleyways a danger of miscalculation.
